I have a blue sequin, mesh top, from H&M (bought on a whim, as I loved the bright blue colour) and now wear it over a navy blue sleeveless knit dress and under a wrap dress. I played around with it, trying it on with a variety of my clothing, and was surprised that it worked well with the dresses. Just play with what you already have and I think mesh tops can work well, and it is just a matter of getting the right colour and effect on the mesh to work with skin tone and existing wardrobe items.
