Autumn footwear for someone who doesn't like shoes

CrispyTofu · 22/09/2023 21:59

I have some pumps, white trainers, a pair of sandals and a pair of wedges for summer. Some wellies, walking boots and black suede ankle boots for winter. I don't really 'love' any of these shoes, I don't like the ankle boots at all.

I've been looking for some autumn shoes that are easy to wear and comfortable as I walk a lot but also that look good. The problem is that I'm not sure I really like any shoe/boot!

Please help me stylish mumsnetters.

I manly wear long skirts, dresses and chinos. I wear lots of navy with white, or bright colours if dresses/skirts. Red,blue, yellow.

What shoes can I wear?

How can you not like shoes? Shock
Get comfortable ones you actually like. Not loafers but ones that lace up.
Toast used to do some DM style shoes and they'd go with most things.

I don't like jeans. All or any style. I suppose it's possible to look at shoes and just not like any ? ?

Yes I think that's it, I look at them and just don't ever find any that I think look nice.

How about some loafers? Sorry I used the Canadian site, but I'm sure the UK site should have them. You could do these with trousers or skirts, but they veer more towards casual.

Thanks for the link, I think they might go with chinos but not sure about skirts........ I don't really like the tassels, but perhaps I just need to get over that!

You don't have to wear jeans, but you can't avoid footwear. I don't particularly like coats but I still have a few too many. They are generally for a purpose rather than for style. The nice ones I have are never worn because I wear the one that keeps out the rain.

Anyway, back to shoes... I like these Solovair Ava Monkey Boots | Nut Brown | TOAST

Stripeypyjamas · 22/09/2023 22:50

Look at sheepskin lined ones, I find they are the best for winter. Ugg often do ones that are waterproof and look like normal leather boots on the outside.

Wolvesart · 22/09/2023 22:58

I’ve never found shoes especially comfortable. I dread when I have to wear smart shoes. I go straight from backless loafers and mules/clogs to boots as autumn goes into winter

Well yes you can't avoid footwear but OP has confirmed she doesn't like the look of any footwear.

Goodornot · 22/09/2023 23:03

I struggle with autumn and winter footwear too. I just don't like it. I prefer summer footwear so looking with interest.

MerryChristmasToYou · 22/09/2023 23:07

But there are so many different styles and shapes.

TANARO TREKKING women Sneakers high with Zip - Black | legero were recommended on a thread yesterday

I've only posted links to ones that look like they'd be suitable for walking in and that look fairly nice and will go with the different outfits.

There are loads of shoes and sandals I don't like - yuk, toes, yuk slip-ons. They might look ok but not on my feet.

AllBellyandBoobs · 22/09/2023 23:13

I have some Joseph Siebel boots, similar to these. Very comfy, and mine are also fairly waterproof.
I also had some amazing merrell boots that lasted years, I need to replace them.
Shoe wise, I love oxford/brogue shoes, but they have to be 'dainty, looking, I don't like clompy ones 😄

I never used to wear shoes, I’d wear sandals or boots. Maybe you just need some nicer boots?

Personally it’s because I have short legs and shoes nearly always shorten my legs, or I can’t get them to look right with trousers. I particularly dislike dark shoes (black, navy), especially chunky ones, lighter colours tend to look better, I have two pairs of gold shoes.

Do you like these?

Dune

Same in patent

Mango

APurpleSquirrel · 22/09/2023 23:30

I basically live in Moshulu Nightjar boots throughout the year - come in various colours, good quality leather:

To be fair to the OP your suggestions are the only ones I've liked so far.

"Do you like these?

No, I don't like how they look and I wouldn't want to do much walking in them.

These are pretty much the ones that Toast used to sell. Burgundy Rub-Off Gibson Shoe | Solovair | Handmade in England – NPS Solovair UK (nps-solovair.com)
A bit nicer than the DMs.

Nanamuffin · 23/09/2023 00:18

@MerryChristmasToYou do you own any of these. The price points are high for me but I really like the 2nd and 3rd link sites. Such beautiful shoes 👞

Shinyandnew1 · 23/09/2023 00:20

How can you not like shoes?

I don’t like ‘shoes’-I don’t think I even own a pair. I wear sandals/Birkenstocks until it’s cold, then I wear boots.
