Has anyone used Minoxidil and it worked?

I'm considering it as my hair has got really thin at the top. I've always had thin hair but it's got worse in the last 2 years. Probs partly because I wore hair extensions too much. I've stopped them now.

So has anyone actually used Minoxidil and it worked?

Thanks

I'll take that as a no then!

Yes, I use it, it restored a good amount of my hair loss (I'll acknowledge I'm one of the lucky ones that's not the case for everyone) and with continued use prevents further loss (which is the main purpose of Minoxidil). I did get it prescribed by a dermatologist as I have PCOS, so it's worth checking if your situation is suitable as knowing the cause of the hair loss is fairly useful before starting on a (topical) medication like Minoxidil as it's a commitment for the very long term.

Edit: definitely go for the foam over the lotion if you do start on it.

Can I ask why the foam is better than the lotion? I don't use it but my son does and I'm just curious what the difference may be. Thanks

My friends husband used it and completely regrew his bald patch and really recommends it. Presumably it works the same on women as men.

In efficacy there's no difference but the lotion tends to leave hair a bit greasy, the foam just disappears without much residue. Less of an issue for men who don't have a lot of hair length and/or wash hair very regularly.

Hi Op,

You can get a medical version of Minoxidil through the GP, if you can get an appointment.. Tons cheaper! Also if you do chose to use minoxidil, buy the Men's instead of the women's version - much stronger supposedly!

Lizzieregina · 21/09/2023 22:34

Yes it works and I agree to buy the men’s version. This was prescribed to me by a doctor (she said to use the men’s version not the women’s!).

Redavocadoes · 21/09/2023 22:47

Yes, I use it and it works. I use the Regaine 5% foam. The men's version is the same strength but often cheaper.

Thanks everyone. I think I'll get the mens foam then. Not a chance I could get anything through GP

Hi! Can anyone advise where is best to buy minoxodil? And what kind of dose/strength? Thanks!
