Le Pliage - M or Large?

For folders and A4, is Medium good or Large needed? I’ve checked sizes but I still can’t work it out. It’s for school.

My medium fits an A4 hardback notebook with space left for the usual handbag bits and bobs.

Clymene · 20/09/2023 19:34

Large is overnight bag size.

LadyWithLapdog · 20/09/2023 19:36

The L looks enormous in photos when against mannequin but M dimensions read smaller than an A4 sheet.

Large, long handled shopper is the classic bag.

LadyWithLapdog · 20/09/2023 19:52

@CheersToMe thanks. I was reading the reviews on the JL site but got confused, as they seem to refer to both L and M sizes in the same list, I can’t work out which one is “good for school”. I’m loathe to buy both sizes and have money tied up for a few days, but I’m up against time so I might have to.

The one I've linked to is the most useful size. I use mine as a work bag and also for travelling, days out, it's very versatile.

Clymene · 20/09/2023 19:58

When you say 'for school' what do you mean? You can get a load of stuff in a large but probably a couple of thin folders and a laptop in the medium. You wouldn't be able to fit a couple of lever arch files in it for example but you could get 3 box files into the large and still be able to zip it up.

If you're not carry much, you are ferreting around a bit in the large. Small items sink to the bottom

LadyWithLapdog · 20/09/2023 19:59

Thank you so much. I will get that one and keep it for myself if it’s not received enthusiastically 😂 The M size has short handles, so might not be good as a shoulder bag.

Clymene - it’s for my DD. I’ll venture with the L one. She carries loads, who knows why?!

I use large for work and travel, medium for every day. Such a good bag!

I have both here now if you need to see a side by side 😂

For a teenager? You should have said! Grin definitely the large.

The medium is really like a slightly oversized handbag. The large is a tardis. Yesterday mine held a dress, long cardigan, pyjamas, underwear, make up bag, a sandwich, and a bottle of wine. Wasn't remotely full.

LadyWithLapdog · 20/09/2023 20:12

@Clymene yes, it’s a birthday present 😂 I’ve ordered L. She’s wanted one for a while.

@Pablova That handle/shoulder strap for M is so confusing. It looks one length in some photos and different in others. I’m vegan so don’t buy with leather trimmings for me, but I buy if I have to for the DCs.

I use my medium one as a work/laptop bag; and the Large one as an overnight bag.

LadyWithLapdog · 20/09/2023 20:38

Ah! I’ve ordered a M one as well. One will suit and I’ll return the other. I’ve asked for a personalised message to go with both, but I’m sure it won’t affect being able to get a refund. They arrive at a local shop in a couple of days.

Thank you all! I’m looking forward to these. I know they’ve been around for ages but I’m quite excited on DD’s behalf.

@ladywithlapdogWondering which worked for school as I'm in the same position!

LadyWithLapdog · 20/07/2025 12:25

The M was too small, exchanged for L. DDs both have them and have been using non stop at school and Uni, holidays, sports.
