Cosmetic Surgery in the UK

I am about to book a face lift. The surgeon has fantastic experience and has appeared on several U.K. and U.S.A. t.v. series. He really seems to be at the top of the tree and is not cheap. Have spent hours searching for feedback and reviews. Nothing at all in any reviews and when asked was told that there is not enough data. He's been doing face lifts for 25 years! I really like him as a person and can't travel far so it's the only option.

He's based in East Sussex but I would not want to name him. I will continue to do my own due diligence. Any personal experience or thoughts would help me to make a final decision.

Not sure what you mean by this:

Please don't go ahead. Change your diet and fitness instead. All women end up looking like old trouts with face lifts because the skin sags eventually even with one and then it will need renewing and from then on the character of your face is gone forever and the trout emerges.

Be proud of your lovely face as it is, women should not have this insecurity, wisdom and experience count far more than a taut face.

Anyone can call themselves a 'cosmetic surgeon', it is a meaningless phrase. You need to look for an 'aesthetic plastic surgeon'.

Freshair1 · 16/09/2023 07:28

Are they on Save Face, website with accredited practitioners.

In my experience surgeons who spend a lot of time promoting themselves in the TV aren’t actually very good at operating. Has he told you that a face lift only lasts for 2-5 years?

Mdg247 · 16/09/2023 07:49

Just wanted to tell you that ‘save face’ was set up for the aesthetics industry (fillers and medical but non-invasive procedures) not plastic surgery. It is totally unnecessary for OP’s surgeon to be registered with them.

I would check the BAPs register (super important) and also his NHS profile for reviews (presuming he will also do NHS work) so you may find some connected to that hospital.

Do you want to share his name? I always find it helpful, as there may be somebody on this site that has experience with him.

reviews don’t always mean a lot, my surgeon (had a nose job) had some on real self but very few on Google. Does your surgeon have an Instagram where you can see more of his work?

Don‘t you think this is a pretty horrible way to speak about people? And pretty hypocritical to say in the same breath ‘women should not have this insecurity’.

I’ve never had surgery or fillers myself, but I don’t think that gives me the right to make comments about those who have. And did you realise that Helen Mirren has had a facelift? And many others besides.

Your messages have been super helpful. I will look at BAPS. Found nothing of concern when I checked the GMC and PHIN register. I agree that reviews are often useless and sometimes false. I did have a mini face lift in Lithuania many years' ago and it made a massive difference to my saggy baggy jowls. I worry about giving a name unless there is concrete evidence of malpractice. Will make a final decision over the weekend and e-mail him on Monday.

No instagram, but have found some old you tube videos with him on Embarrassing Bodies. Impressed with those.
