Need a super light moisturiser for oily skin - like Avene Hydrance Optimale Legere

As above - preferably with a bit of SPF! I have oily skin and most moisturisers are too heavy or even lighter ones are greasy on my skin. I just need a base for foundation really.

I used to use Avene Hydrance Optimale UV Legere - light hydrating cream, spf 20.

Then that got discontinued so I switched to La Roche-Posay Rosaliac UV Legere (spf 15).

Then THAT got discontinued so I tried a different LRP but it's just too greasy (nice but I look too oily very quickly!)

Any recs please, particularly if you used these or similar? All the 'obvious' or recommended replacements do seem to say 'for dehydrated skin' or 'intense' etc.

Simple was my first thought.

Also like Nivea, either in blue tin or Nivea Soft.

Cerave do one with SPF in it.

Hydraluminous Boots No 7 range is good. The one in the blue pot, it’s light like a gel. I buy day and night moisturiser, they usually have offers on. There’s another moisturiser in that range in an pale aqua tub, they are a bit thicker so be careful to pick up the blue ones!

You might find it suits your skin better to get the right moisturizer and spf separately - it did for me.

My current favourite is Geek & Gorgeous - they’re a small European brand that are a bit like The Ordinary but less annoying. They got a lot of press coverage for their brightening Vitamin C serum, so when I tried it, I ordered their Hydration Station light moisturizer to make up the amount for free postage. Really glad I did, as I’m on my third reorder!

It is super-light, soaks in really fast and generally made my skin feel really good. No spf, but it means I can use it day and night. Plus I wear an spf30 tinted moisturizer (erborian CC) and also use the La RochePosay spf50 spray as a mist on my face.

May be worth a try?

Neutrogena water gel for oily/combination and then Nivea face factor 50 spf which is matt :)

Aveeno do a lovely one in a tub that is very light and relatively inexpensive.

ALDIs lacuna Q10 serum is fab!

Thought I'd update - tried the Simple one as it was cheap and seemed pretty good but a bit siliconey I think for me.

I wasn't sure about the Geek and Gorgeous as it's a 'gel cream' and is also kind of slippery, but actually after a couple of weeks I think it's probably great! No SPF but that's OK for now. So thanks @ShangPie !

Me!! I’m having the same issue! I used to use both the same ones and need to find something new… have you found anything? Thanks!

SSpratt · 07/07/2024 06:00

I have greasy skin and don’t wear moisturiser. I use a primer with spf under foundation.

Kelvinator1 · 07/07/2024 09:17

I have similar issues - generally happy with Nivea Mattifying & its cheap as chips, but going to try Byoma Gel next - apparently its good. Always searching for the holy grail....

You may try out La roche posay pf 50+. So here is my routine that I follow:
Morning:
Using water to wash your face,
Sebamed clear face gel,
la roche posay spf
Evening:
Cerave moisturizer,
Tretinoin (0.1) from skinorac
