Would I get away with these trousers in your office?

Just that really, I have been living in comfy trousers in this heat, but also in this post Covid mashup of wfh/hybrid I'm a bit lost until autumn/winter proper when I tend to live in black tights and shift dresses for work. I work for a finance company in London if that makes a difference!

Would I get away with these trousers in your office?

No

DailyDriver · 12/09/2023 12:28

I'm a bit funny about what materials I can wear next to my skin but these are the softest coolest cotton.

Excited for a moment as looking for something that's cotton but your link says they are viscose

sedgyhdc · 12/09/2023 12:29

Tech sector in East London and they'd be fine in mine.

Katiesaidthat · 12/09/2023 12:34

No, law firm that has embraced a more casual style, but thas would be classified as "taking the piss".

shearwater · 12/09/2023 12:35

Yes, those would be fine in my office. Though I'd not have got away with them in a law firm. I haven't any quite like that but have worn slightly smarter wide legged linen trousers for work.

shearwater · 12/09/2023 12:36

Lovely kecks though - they really suit you and are great with the sandals.

Julyflyby · 12/09/2023 12:40

I'm working in finance and had a very long day yesterday so opted for comfort and leggings for in the office today. I don't think your trousers are acceptable but then my leggings aren't and I am wearing them anyway.

BeggyMitchell · 12/09/2023 12:41

They're lovely but I'd definitely get the side-eye in my office.

plehpleh · 12/09/2023 12:42

No, education.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 12/09/2023 12:43

I used to work in the accounts dept at exjob. One management accountant wore mini skirts, tight tees and the sort of sandals you're wearing. As long as the trousers aren't see through I can't see the problem.

fettuccini · 12/09/2023 12:45

Absolutely not.

SwordBilledHummingbird · 12/09/2023 12:55

I work in a university and you'd be fine. In fact, you look smarter than most people I see...

toomuchforonewoman · 12/09/2023 13:09

No, but I absolutely love them, wish I were tall enough to pull them off.

CointreauVersial · 12/09/2023 13:15

Yes, anything goes here (small Engineering/Construction co), especially post-Covid, when everything got more casual.

I'm in white jeans and flip flops today. You wouldn't be out of place.

Funnily enough, I think they look a lot better than some other casual options, such as joggers or sports clothes. A bit more "considered".

LaCerbiatta · 12/09/2023 13:24

Yes. Pharma

Same here. @VoldemortsKitten how is the viscose in terms of sweating?

There are sooo many comfy trousers out at the mo.. I have these and they are soooo comfy and would work for office .

Marks also have loads of elastic waisted trousers too .

VoldemortsKitten · 12/09/2023 13:32

Ahh @JingsMahBucket and @DailyDriver clearly I'm not as fussy as I thought!

They do feel like cool cotton, really soft next to the skin, can't feel the sweat in this heat at all, which is more than can be said for the black bodysuit I was wearing this morning- now replaced by a white linen (and it def is linen 😂) camisole. Wfh day so making the most of it!

They are an Amazon bargain!

Apparently these are Mocha, but infact are beigey grey. (Sounds lovely right?) but SO comfy.

They clearly just belong at home. Or big Sainsbury's when I am feeling brave!

Can I ask how tall you are? I'd like something like this for my upcoming holiday but I'm 5'9" and worry that they'll only come to mid-calf on me...

Celia24 · 12/09/2023 13:37

Nope. Our workplace is fairly casual but I would only wear this at home.

Blackblueandgold · 12/09/2023 13:38

They'd be fine in my office. I work in Finance. I'm in t shirt, jeans and trainers today

VoldemortsKitten · 12/09/2023 14:12

@SwordBilledHummingbird I'm 5'6 and I actually think these would be ok for you

In a very un scientific experiment I stood on my tiptoes to see how far they would keep going if my ankle didn't end where it does. They went well over my heel and almost still touched the floor

In my mind that must be 3inches worth to play with... in any case they def wouldn't look like 3/4 lengths

Yes, but I work in higher education, not finance.

JingsMahBucket · 12/09/2023 14:15

@VoldemortsKitten thanks for that. I’ve been looking for similar pieces recently. We’re the same height too so that’s even better.

amberisola · 12/09/2023 17:14

I really like them but would try to dress them up if that's possible. Depends on your office though!
