What everyday trousers are we all wearing that aren't leggings or jeans?

I'm wearing leggings far too often and jeans make me feel so hot, looking for a comfortable everyday alternative!

I love cord trousers but struggling to find any with low / medium rise waist. I’m short so ankle grazers work for me if anyone has seen some! Otherwise petite or short. I find M&S good for petite but as a PP said they tend to sit half way up my ribs now!

The M&S cords waistband button sits directly on my belly button! So sore, I can’t wear them

I never wear trousers. Literally own none. Usually a knee length dress with leggings or over the knee socks. I don't find it any less practical. If I have to bleach something or something I'll maybe take the dress off and put a vest top on with the leggings for the half hour it takes.

porridgeisbae · 17/09/2023 22:43

In the summer I sometimes swapped from leggings to over the knee socks that ideally came higher than the hem of my dresses. Maybe am thinking of opaque stockings for winter. It's the breathability I like as I get older- it's healthier for avoiding thrush etc too.

I think, @notlucreziaborgia you were a victim to the very dreary picture that went with your link. I’m sure the trews are great but what is it with companies trying to make their clothes look so dreary? If you like them anyway, then sod it (which I think is the attitude you have. Brava!).

anyway, this is my holy grail. I’m all at sea trouser wise. I’m frantically clicking links!

That’s not ideal at all. I have a short torso and I hate having waists so high

Oh, they are undeniably rather dull to look at, but they are extremely comfortable and perfect for lounging in, which is what I bought them for. Also great for the airport.

@Howdoyoulikeyourtea and @cantstaymadatyou have you got a link for the m and s trousers please? I'm also short in leg and wide in hip 😂

I've ended up with some trousers that are cross between chinos/sweatpants/cargos/not exactly sure but they call them joggers but really aren't. From M&S stretchy and comfy.

I have theses in navy and the pale pink and have worn them loads ! Very comfy alternative to jeans

wanttogetadvice · 18/09/2023 23:08

The comfiest trousers I have found are from Rohan. Their amblers ones for summer and troggings ones for winter. They hug the bottom and waist like a glove, are not tight or restricted, very stretchy without being baggy, have elasticated waist and plenty of room around thighs (which is a must for a person with thick thighs like mine) and they look professional which means they can be worn to work. I absolutely love them.

@Decafflatteplease I have the same ones as @cantstaymadatyou . So comfortable and look smart enough to wear with a nice top etc or dress down like tracksuits. And only £17.50

Decafflatteplease · 19/09/2023 19:01

Thanks so much @Howdoyoulikeyourtea and @cantstaymadatyou they look great definitely going to get some

Best trousers ever. So unbelievably flattering- look better than the pics online!

dreamingofsun · 21/09/2023 15:22

the above slim fit joggers are now in the sale for £21.

For those who wear the harem pants, when it's not summer what shoes and tops do you wear them with?

minipeony · 21/09/2023 17:01

Next jogging bottoms

I wear trainers or desert boots with my harem pants in the colder weather (I have some Clarks Goretex nubuck desert boots, so they are waterproof, thankfully). Plus short-ish, quite fitted shirts or tops to balance out the baggy wide bottom half.
