I'm wearing leggings far too often and jeans make me feel so hot, looking for a comfortable everyday alternative!

@LaRevolution so their size guide on their website is actually really accurate! I’m a size 16 and I get a 33 in these trousers, in their jeans I’m a 34 because I hate jeans that are tight around my waist even if they’re a bit baggy.

So pleased I found this thread as I purchased some of the M&S slim fit joggers recommended up thread as I need some trousers to wear with a pair of ridiculously expensive trainers to get the cost per wear down. Fit nicely and feel that they will be comfortable too.

I don’t need you to think I’m a good person. Nor do I need you to like me, respect me, or approve of my choices.

I do not care ☺️

Tiespin · 14/09/2023 17:47

Magic trousers for me. Super comfy.

MarkWithaC · 14/09/2023 17:51

Hush do nice harems. Sweaty Betty have some joggers that look a bit more shaped and 'elevated'.

I’ve got 4 pairs of joggers from Primark to wear around the house; 2 for winter and 2 for warmer weather. They are absolutely ok, nothing exciting but comfy. They lasted the whole year already and I hope to get 1-2 years more from them.
They’re a lot of cheap synthetic at Primark but it’s fair for other places as well. I went to Monsoon a few days ago - nasty synthetic, just more expensive.

Cheap joggers are just that. Cheap joggers. Doesn’t alter the ethics.

@notlucreziaborgia please ignore the trollish behavior being directed at you. Awful behavior. You can wear and spend what you darned well like. There are some strange people out there...

I can't link to my favourite trousers bc they're last season's. But they're from Me+Em and have adjustable ankle so can either be gathered and ballon like or wide leg. I have them in khaki and navy (both v faded now). Not cheap but ling lasting and look great. Sometimes you get what you pay for @InterFactual

What do you think about the ethics of the clothing manufacture and supply chains that mean you can get joggers from Primark for £15?

Oh, I’m fine, but thank you. If she wants to get mad about the finances, and sartorial choices, of a stranger then that’s her problem to deal with. They are great trousers btw, by far the comfiest lounge pants I’ve ever owned.

I just googled me + em trousers, and they’ve got some great looking ones. I am a sucker for an adjustable ankle.

Being short of leg and wide of hip I never thought I could wear wide leg trousers. But the jersey ones from M&S are brilliant and so flattering. They come in petite lengths and are just £17.50. I just wish they did more colours or some prints.

I live in those in the winter. I’m far too fat for jeans sn those are really flattering too.

mixedpeel · 17/09/2023 16:44

Thanks to this thread I too now have a pair of the M&S jersey wide legs. I need the extra short though, which means only black or navy (and actually only black as navy currently sold out in my size).

Many thanks to whoever originally recommended these upthread.

I’ve never spent £155 on a pair of trousers in my life. I suspect people who do have waaay too many clothes, and thus contribute to the climate crisis! I buy wide legged cords for the winter from Asos. Love them!! In summer I wear GAP lightweight joggers, probably from the sale, in cream or a summery colour. I usually have about four pairs of trousers per season and simply rotate with T-shirt and hoodies. Have moved away from leggings and jeans.

Buying less, more expensive clothes is often the opposite of contributing to the climate crisis.

When it gets colder I've got some velvet trousers that are so comfortable and warm.

Me too, flared.

Although definitely not my demographic the Topshop Petite fit me perfectly. Vinted is great for bargain funds.

Those who have jersey wide legs, do they get very saggy when wet? The last pair I had, admittedly several years ago would drag on the ground if worn out in rain.

don’t you lecture me on sustainability. If you think there is such a thing in sustainable consumerism then you’re being had like a kipper, taken in by meaningless carbon targets. Any form of manufacturing is bad in some way for the planet. The only way to be sustainable is to not buy anything. I still wear clothes that I bought when I was 25. And I’m 50.

explainthistomeplease · 17/09/2023 19:07

Don't be daft @MistyBay
You may be right that the best way to be sustainable is to buy nothing. But the next rung up is to buy from companies who pay their workers an appropriate amount. Commerce (like it or not) puts food on people's tables. Trouble is there are plenty of cases of companies who really aren't doing right by their workers, and are using harmful chemicals and methods.

MerryMarigold · 17/09/2023 19:18

I don't wear leggings or jeans (too fat, too uncomfortable) and I live in trousers. I wear a lot of cut off trousers at this time of year. I also wear harem pants or jersey trousers with elasticated waist and a nice drape. Next usually have some, but I am a Vinted shopper.

Lovemusic82 · 17/09/2023 19:42

I usually wear skinny jeans (M&S) but this year I have bought a couple pairs of trousers from Lucy and Yak (Alexas and some Addison’s), I don’t usually spent that much on trousers but they are mega comfortable and I’m hoping they will last. I used to wear leggings but feel I’m getting too old and fat for them 🤣. I have a few pairs of harem pants that I wear around the house.

PinotPony · 17/09/2023 20:04

Cargo trousers. Super comfy. I'm pretending it's the 90s.
