I need help once again from all you knowledgeable people! I have chin length highlighted blonde hair. Im looking for a shampoo and conditioner that will leave me with soft, manageable lovely smelling hair but wont irritate my scalp. As ive aged i find that using most shampoos etc leaves me with a very itchy scalp, ears and neck and if i continue to use it i get a rash and scabs. Im currently using the head and shoulders scalp moisture ones but as you can imagine its not leaving my hair in great condition. I find that if i try sulphate free shampoo it doesn't leave my hair feeling very clean but im not sure its even sulphates that are causing the reaction. I find that shampoo like pantene and treseme and the absolute worst for irritation and also the Aussie brand! Im contemplating paying to see a Trichologist but thought I would try here first.

I am allergic to shampoos with Methylisothiazolinone in them - apparently it’s a fairly common allergen. You could try a shampoo that doesn’t have it as an ingredient - might solve your problem. I’m not in the UK so I don’t know if you have the same brands there but just check the ingredients list.

I have this with any argan or Moroccan oil added to shampoos. I now just use my DC's child farm shampoos and conditioners.

I alternate between two( it keeps the cost sensible) very different. It both work for me: fine dry hair.

cheap: Savon de Marseille Olive from FrenchSoaps.co.uk
expensive: Augustinus Bader from Liberty or cultbeauty or spaceNK

I use body shops ginger shampoo or Head and shoulder Dermax.

I know you mentioned nice smelling, but for the time being maybe try unscented. Try e-lave maybe, to see if your scalp calms down.

I have this problem too.
I alternate between Nizoral, t gel shampoo & baby shampoo. Also Eucerin sometimes helps as well as the Skin Clinics shampoo. My Mum has this issue too & we both have psoriasis & reactive skin.Sometimes taking flaxseed oil helps.

I'm interested, do you take flaxseed oil capsules or do you use it on your scalp?

@Theblacksheepandme I ingest them!

i used t-gel to cure the initial flare up and then aveeno shampoo thereafter. Any time I’ve tried an alternative it makes my scalp breakout again.

shop around on the internet to get the aveeno at a sensible price
