Dry cleaning at home

I have a blazer I’d like to freshen up for tomorrow, it’s dry clean only. Is there anything I can do at home to spruce it up a bit? I can potentially hand wash it then steam/iron it or should I not risk it?

I stick everything like this in the wash in a pillowcase and hang up to dry but if it isn't dirty then maybe just a steam would do.

What fabric is it made of?

What's the fibre content?

You can try wiping it with a damp microfiber, perhaps a bit of very diluted fairy on any grubby cuffs? Spray with Febreeze, air it and steam it?

It’s 69% polyester, 29% viscose, 2% elastane and the lining is 100% polyester

Put it in a pillowcase & wash it on cold in the machine. Low spin speed.

Hang on a hanger possibly steam a bit in the morning.

Dry clean-only blazers can be a bit tricky to freshen up at home, but there are some precautions you can take to give your blazer a quick refresh. Keep in mind that these methods are not a substitute for professional dry cleaning but can help in a pinch:

  1. Steam It:
  • Hang the blazer in a well-ventilated area, such as your bathroom after a hot shower.
  • Gently steam the blazer with a handheld garment steamer, maintaining a safe distance to prevent water spots. The steam can help remove wrinkles and odors.
  1. Spot Cleaning:
  • If there are specific stains or spots, you can try spot cleaning. Use a damp cloth or a specialized fabric stain remover, following the product's instructions carefully. Be very gentle and avoid excessive scrubbing, as it can damage the fabric.
