Can we talk Pants?

So, I have a very simple need with pants. Nothing fancy, or sexy, just high leg, bikini, basic, cotton, with a reasonable gussett (!). I don't need fancy, I don't need holding in, or high waist, and I can't wear hipster or brazilian.

I used to buy M&S multipacks with lacy tops in various colours, then the quality went down, and the sizing went to shit. So I shifted to Sloggi 24/7 Tai. They were fine, but they have gone baggy and lost shape really quickly.

Any other makes/ideas I haven't come across?

George at Asda lace top cotton knickers....

MargotBamborough · 10/09/2023 15:44

Intimissimi have a huge range of basics. I like the supima cotton seamless ones.

Annaishere · 10/09/2023 15:59

I like the plain standard ones from next

headcheffer · 10/09/2023 16:02

I love M&S flexifit. Really comfortable.

WhereAreWeNow · 10/09/2023 16:04

I really like the Uniqlo cotton midi knickers. They come in super plain black or white but there are also some more colourful prints. They wash really well. Decent gusset. No vpl. Good quality cotton.

FriendsDrinkBook · 10/09/2023 16:04

Love leggings , or lovall as they are known now do really good basic underwear. Like m and s used to be before everything started declining in quality.

I find that the M&S Flexifit lose their shape and start to fall down (if wearing loose clothing) after a few washes. I've bought some high waisted ones in the hope that they're better.

jay55 · 10/09/2023 16:15

I wear boy short style rather than bikini, but have recently switched from M&S to primark.
They have excellent gussets.

these are so comfortable and have a bit of tummy flattening effect

also these. Both styles are often 20% off

Crochetablanket · 10/09/2023 17:32

I have some from stripe and stair which I like but they are not cheap. Also I’d say on the bigger side. They have washed well though.
I often see people on hear rating the Asda ones, plus the Amazon ones linked above.
M&S knickers are really poor now, sadly. Although I did get some for my gym/sports from their good move range which are really nice.

KnittedCardi · 10/09/2023 18:20

Thanks all. I will work my way down the list.

Boody are really comfortable, various different styles. Not cheap but they last.

Lentilweaver · 10/09/2023 18:28

Wirapa. Not glamorous. Available on Amazon.

Devilsmommy · 10/09/2023 18:32

Toytransportemergency · 10/09/2023 16:17

Yes I was going to say these ones. Really comfortable

Suasthuasanuas · 10/09/2023 18:33

I have discovered the wonders of m&s boys boxers having borrowed a pair from one of my sons on hols. Age 13-14 is a perfect size 10. No vpl, very comfortable and hold their shape well. Delighted with them. Plus they have fun designs. What's not to like !?

gogomoto · 10/09/2023 18:39

I have Sainsbury's midi, current ones bought in 2021 and still in perfect shape.

TinyRebel · 10/09/2023 18:45

Oddballs are really good. Plain or there are some really unusual prints. Very comfortable. I usually wear the shorts but have a couple of pairs of the classic briefs and they are really comfortable.

PickleDig · 10/09/2023 18:59

Sainsbury are decent, I have some that have lasted years...

MrsMigginscoffee · 10/09/2023 21:51

Asda midi topped with lace were my purchase before holiday. I should've sized up in the same way I should've dieted before holiday but didn't but they seem thickish cotton and would be fab just one size up

carpethediempeople · 10/09/2023 23:03

Amazon innersy are amazing. Proper covering on the bum with a decent gusset. Fully cotton.

GeorgeBeckett · 10/09/2023 23:08

I do also have the Asda lace topped and they have been good but are disintegrating now so I guess they've lasted around 18 months?

Stripe and stare - not cotton but made from sustainable trees. Not cheap but OK on sale. Really comfortable, feel nice, wash well, lots of colours, pretty good in terms of VPL. Current favourites. Will want more in my Christmas stocking.

Rapanui - bit more substantial feeling sustainable cotton. Reaching for them when I want a thicker pant. I felt I would have liked them to be a bit more generously cut centrally at the front but overall a pleasing pant.
