Urgent blazer for work

41 replies

SprinkleOfSunak · 10/09/2023 07:37

I urgently need to buy a blazer for work in a size 16. I need to receive it asap this week. I’d ideally prefer to visit a shop to try it on and buy it.

Requirements:

Navy, purple, bright pink or green.
Must look good with midi dresses.
Must cost £50 or less (skint), as cheap as possible.
Ideally double breasted

I don’t know where to look, and think I only look at the same shops/brands. Please help!

Hi OP, Zara generally have a decent selection of blazers around the £50-£70 mark. Worth a look?

Gruelle · 10/09/2023 07:47

At least share the circumstances for this emergency! You will presumably not be on your feet in court, given your colour requirements? What’s occurring?

SprinkleOfSunak · 10/09/2023 08:13

@Gruelle
🤣 I’m a Secondary School Teacher, and in my new school, we’re required to wear a jacket/blazer as part of our dress code.
They only shared this on the first day back, and fortunately the dress code has been relaxed during the hot weather, but I’ll need one once the temperature dips this week.

Those are my favourite colours, and they go with most of the dresses I own for work.

Thank you for those suggestions. I’ll have a look now!

H&M do loads and all reasonably priced
T K Maxx always have lots if you have one near

Cyclingmummy1 · 10/09/2023 08:21

Do you live near an outlet village or Boundary?

My every day one was from Gap at an outlet and my better one (parents evenings and open mornings) was from Hugo Boss at Bicester.

I'd buy navy for those days when you don't want to stand out 😉

SprinkleOfSunak · 10/09/2023 08:23

@Edwardandtubbs @Wishthiswasntthecase

Thank you for these.

I’d never thought of TK Maxx for blazers, I didn’t realise they had them! I buy things for my house in there and gifts, but obviously hadn’t noticed. I’ll take a look.

I found 2 blazers I wanted in Sainsburys on the website, one full price, and one in the sale, but neither are available in my size. I’ve been to my 2 nearest stores too, but no luck yet.

Ah …!

The Zara, & Other Stories, Arket family can probably supply all you need (though you may want the sales for the latter two).

SprinkleOfSunak · 10/09/2023 08:25

@Cyclingmummy1

Thank you. No, I don’t live near to one u fortunately, and won’t have time to get to one. I’ll definitely keep this in mind in the future though.

I’ll have a good look, thank you.

I would never have thought of going to Sainsbury's for blazers but they seem to have a good selection.

Sometimes worth checking for sainsburys stock via the Argos website now they're owned by the same people.

Cyclingmummy1 · 10/09/2023 08:31

@SprinkleOfSunak shame as I always feel great in the HB, it's lasted five years and I didn't pay a huge amount.

I was half expecting our dress code to be more rigidly enforced this term but no mention as of yet. My only transgression is open toed sandals.

comedownwithme · 10/09/2023 08:32

Primark had blazers in all colours recently

CMOTDibbler · 10/09/2023 08:37

Not double breasted, but the M&S ruched sleeve blazers are great, easy to wash and come in a few colours. I have three now as they are so easy to wear. £49

SprinkleOfSunak · 10/09/2023 08:41

@CyberCritical

Thanks for this, I’ll do that!

Yes, they have some good ones.

Oh, the opened toes sandal obsession!!!

I’ve managed to get away with it this year by wearing fisherman type sandals which have a mainly covered toe. I always wait though for something to say something, it’d never surprise me.

@comedownwithme

I saw a gorgeous green linen one in there on Friday evening, £18 I think in the sale. Sadly, only small sizes were available, such a lovely shade of green though.

SprinkleOfSunak · 10/09/2023 08:48

@CMOTDibbler

That sounds very convenient. I could potentially be swayed from the double breast.

I've just spotted a Sainsbury's blue velvet blazer similar to the one I had when I was a student. Now I'm feeling nostalgic. 🙂

Monki has some good blazers too. And there's 10% off if you're a new customer.
