Endometriosis clothes

I get awful bloating when my endometriosis flares up which usually goes on for days on end. I look about 4 months pregnant easily. Anyway during these times I literally don't even want to get dressed because everything is so uncomfortable. I want to wear the baggiest darkest clothes i own but I then end up looking like crap and feeling even worse.

I was wondering if anyone suffers the same and has found some comfortable clothes that still look decent and stylish enough on, that won't have me feeling worse about how I look or in pain from pressure on my stomach. Or just any suggestions of things i could wear? I am generally bad at dressing myself anyway but really struggle at these time. Thanks!

Not got the same problem. But as for clothes you could think of, dresses without tight waistbands, soft leggings/joggers with sweatshirts, flat fronted dungarees boiler suits and pinafore dresses, unstructured blazers to go over the top, soft wide leg trousers with draw string waists.

Marking for myself, sorry! I don't have endo, but I have another condition that makes my stomach bloat for a few days a month. I look pregnant too. But at the same time wearing huge baggy clothes makes me look even more pregnant.

I am slowly moving from jeans and trousers to dresses, which I find more comfortable these days.

I think you might find some suitable things at Seasalt. I like their Chapelle dress particularly.

Allthatjazz234 · 08/09/2023 22:11

Yes I think I need to start looking at dresses. I don't tend to wear them much as not too keen on my legs really and I tend to dress more casual but would probably be good to have some that I can throw on

I have endo and adeno. Why have one when you can have both lol. I would wear a nightdress style top and legggins. I they are called kimonos? Some people I have read about on fb keep maternity clothes as they are comfortable and stretch as need. I know we are not pregnant but we need comfort bit style lol

I know how hard it is to find something comfortable to wear. I hope this helps.

Allthatjazz234 · 08/09/2023 22:35

Thanks @Anon9898 I have both also. The joys! Yes I have a maternity top that I still wear because it is loose and baggy and I actually love the style of it and a pair of trousers too! Can I ask what you mean by nightdress style top?

Same problem here.

I wear (wide) elasticated waistbands, sometimes maternity jeans/leggings. This autumn/winter I’m going to start wearing long dresses, just need to find some that nip in a bit at the waist and fall over the stomach so nothing clings to the bloated area. I’m getting to the point where I can’t stand jeans or anything with a button anymore.

I recently bought a couple of pairs of these which are good https://tuclothing.sainsburys.co.uk/product/tuc142476581 the fabric is nice and soft and there’s lots of stretch.

I have endo and pcos. I wear long or short dungarees depending on the weather. Midi or maxi dresses. Leggings but roll down the waist band, and a super loose vest or T. Add a sweatshirt if chilly. Super loose fit jeans, my best are from matalan actually, Jolie I think, or something like that.

Thanks to adenomyosis and fibroids I have similar problems with finding comfortable and stylish clothes. Can't remember the last time I wore jeans.

I loved this Uniqlo dress so much I bought a second one in a different colour https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/airism-ultra-stretch-sleeveless-dress-457012.html It seems very well cut - it skims over my stomach, and flares out, but doesn't feel overly baggy. It has garnered many compliments this summer.

'Simone' dresses from Fatface over the years might be worth a look in case there is anything in a pattern and fabric you like https://www.fatface.com/search?q=simone&lang=en_GB I bought a linen one a few years ago which I've been wearing a lot, and a lovely velvet one for the winter. The jersey fabric they use for most of the dresses in this line is not great quality.

A lot of the dresses that I feel least self-conscious in, like the ones above, have princess seams https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Princess_seams

Finally, this is going to sound counter-intuitive, but I bought some compression leggings accidentally a couple of years ago, and they are the most comfortable leggings I've ever worn, no matter what time of the month. Wonder if this is because they give more support?

Am really going to lower the tone of S and B, but it is important to be comfortable. Recently got these Roman cropped trousers with an elasticated waist. Cropped Stretch Trouser in Chocolate - Roman Originals UK Very comfy. Not fashionable in these wide-legged times, but I have good legs so... They have replaced my jeans. I wear it with a Rapanui cotton tee in a relaxed fit.

Also have a couple of Uniqlo tshirt dresses similar to the one mentioned above, but in cotton. They are flattering and loose over the stomach.

I have endo and have a laparoscopy coming up which I’m expecting will result in bloating for a while!

This is my current M&S basket. I’m thinking the cardigans will be good with one or two buttons done up and some comfy straight leg jeans or the black stretchy trousers.

I’ll probably wear the stripey trousers with a fitted t shirt and just show the bloat to the world 🤣 but a denim shacket would be good to cover up a bit.
