So not only do people fritter their time away on MN - they then fritter more time away discussing what they have already frittered time away on - good idea…

Honestly, I just mentally file this sort of behaviour under "Some people are simply terribly mean-spirited and boring" and move on with my life.

ahahhahahhaha good one. Maybe if you’re part of the clique, god for it you post about a slightly alternative brand and you’ll be torn to shreds, some of the worst mocking and insulting I’ve ever seen on MN lie in these boards.

And I’ve never seen a S&B thread on MNtrolls, it’s mainly AIBU / Chat threads that are clearly wind up / fantasists / creative writing threads.

I can’t see anything on Reddit about MN for several years but must be looking in the wrong place. Agree with PP - some people are dicks, don’t give them headspace.

Is this MNtrolls. I had a thread on here that they ripped apart on there. Went on for days. It’s genuinely made me hope they weren’t parents as they would have neglecting their children with amount of time spent on that thread! Ignore them if it upsets you.

Is that separate to the troll one? The troll one exists because you're not allowed to raise an eyebrow at clearly fake threads here.

I've never seen that on tattle though I only read a few threads.

Is there a bit of a crackdown on at the moment? I was on a thread with an ever changing story, but noticing the discrepancies got several of us deleted, told off publicly on-thread, and told off privately. Seemed like overkill.

Characterising critical thinking as troll-hunting seems a regressive step if intelligent discussion is the goal.

@Stravaig I'm not sure, I think it depends how many reports a thread/report has had (probably depends on the moderator too) I appreciate free reign troll hunting could derail some genuine threads, but it's so infuriating to see what is clearly fake threads going on for pages and pages, and whilst you can report they're not always taken down, they're quite click worthy after all....it just feels like there is so much fake stuff on here now.

It must be a different Reddit sub than the MN trolls one as I have never seen a post on there mentioning S&B (although I haven't looked at it for a couple of weeks).

@jkkdiehab Yes, it must be a hard balance to find sometimes.

I faithfully promised them I would simply leave a thread if I saw discrepancies rather than engaging my brain to untangle them. But it was a very odd conversation, which I abandoned in the end, as they kept defending the OP as honest and genuine despite multiple contradictory posts.

Always makes me laugh that tattle and Reddit users are branded as "jealous, mean trolls" as nauseum but Mumsnet is well known as a place where you need to prepare yourself to be ripped to shreds if you say the wrong thing.
I've posted on S&B once for advice (under another name) and the replies were so fucking snarky I've never been back on the board.
I'd love to know what sort of sad person joins a clique on a forum and makes other people feel like shit directly, that seems a lot worse than just talking about someone on another site.

Agree, S&B maybe used to be a kind and nice part of MN, but not for the last few years. Every thread that goes over about 50 posts seems to get derailed by snarky angry people.

Really? I have seen the reddit group where they discuss obvious trolls (greedy husband, piss troll, ... maybe a 'op looks like they should be in nappies they look so young' ) but I am not aware of a S&B slag off board?

Reddit is hardly a secret place. It's a million times bigger than Mumsnet and truly international. There's a couple not just one, one is Mumsnet madness and the other is the troll spotting one though neither of them are much interested in style and beauty posts.
