Sienna Miller for M&S

Thoughts on this collection. At first glance, I really like it! Definitely a cooler and edgier look than Holly W.

I thought it looked ...fine. lots of plain tailoring, some pops of colour and a couple of statement pieces. Nothing revolutionary or that isn't already available every AW in H&M (the tailoring, knitwear and the colour pops) or their existing core range IMO - which some/a lot of it is pulled from anyway. I know that is the principle point - to appease core customers but also lure in a new type or customer, but still. As a mid thirties customer I can't say I'm feeling overly lured!

Sienna Miller is bloomin' gorgeous and could style a sack but my first thought when I saw the promo shots was 'I really can't imagine she would be wearing this routinely unless she was obliged/isn't being paid a decent sum'. I can hardly see her walking around London in some cheap looking M&S new balance dupes and even on her I thought some of it lacked a look of real quality/cool factor.

I'm sure it will all sell out regardless and is a savvy marketing move but I don't think there's anything I'll be purposefully ordering.

I am offended by that blazer. 45% acrylic, 39% polyester, 8% cotton, 5% viscose, 2% polyamide and 1% elastane does not = tweed in my book.

But I'm sure it's a smart(ish) move by M&S. Sienna Miller is everyone's boho sweetheart all grown up. What can possibly go wrong? Even I will admit to having a soft spot for her. She's no Jane Birkin though.

I like some of the pieces, but suspect a lot of them look good because Sienna Miller is wearing them! And I doubt she would unless being paid to do so.

I'm glad you pointed that out. I was mulling the blazer but I think I'll pass.

I liked it; it’s a blessed relief from all of the flounces and frills and ghastly prints.
It’s dressing for adults rather than women who belong in a weird religious sect in the 1800’s.

I bought the blazer this morning. I really like it. Also bought the chunky loafers. Loved the look of the cable knit jumper but, as with a lot of M&S knitwear, it’s a bit of a weird fit/shape. Too boxy.

gillygeey · 07/09/2023 16:47

She's much cooler than HW but SM would never actually wear M&S

EllaPaella · 07/09/2023 22:47

I love Sienna Miller but this collection is all a bit meh

Honeysuckle9 · 07/09/2023 22:54

I just started a post on M&S this autumn. Agree that there are H&M vibes but the quality is much better. I was really pleasantly surprised by this season

Glonda · 07/09/2023 23:03

I would like the blazer if it wasn't such a pig's breakfast of crappy materials. Yum yum, acrylic...

UneFoisAuChalet · 07/09/2023 23:11

I’m definitely surprised and impressed. I might get some of the pieces that I can use with my ‘staple’ clothes. Can’t go wrong with a pair of trousers and jumper 🤷‍♀️

But more importantly, I usually give M & S a complete miss but Sienna Miller has made me think 🤔 so well done on the marketing.

Lemonademoney · 11/09/2023 18:24

I’ve just bought the textured funnel neck coat and I love it. Very scandi and I can see me wearing it with lots of different outfits

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/09/2023 19:31

I honestly don’t think it’s any different/better than their usual offerings. They pretty much always do a ‘tweed’ jacket, wide legged trousers etc.

I tried the brown satin skirt on and thought it was really poor. It needed to be glossy and rich looking, but it just looked drab and creased and depressing.

The grey checked trousers are awful - they’re jersey and look so cheap.

And Sienna M is beautiful but not exactly big news. I &know who she used to be and how she used to dresss, but know nothing at all about her now and hadn’t heard anything about her for decades.

Meadowdog · 11/09/2023 19:46

Based on what they look like online I love the waistcoat and the satin slip skirt - but based on @RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie 's comment on the skirt I'll wait until I can see what things look like in person rather than ordering online. I have a lot of things that are very similar to some of the other items. I love how the collection is showing me how to combine what I've already got with new stuff. Overall I like what I see (except the long tartan pink coat would definitely not be for me - but then I'm not the most fashionable person in the world by a long shot).

mynameiscalypso · 11/09/2023 20:40

I agree about the brown skirt. I was really hoping I'd like it but I wasn't a fan of the material at all.

BHRK · 11/09/2023 21:03

I like the look of it and will definitely have a look in store
