What beauty services do you have as part of your generally maintenance routine?

Feeling a bit meh recently and wonder what sort of beauty appointments people make part of their routine.

I have my hair cut once a year, that's it. Used to get eyelash extensions but don't bother. Used to have hair coloured but don't bother. I think the pandemic did it.

What routine beauty appointments do you have and do you feel they're worth it, please?

I'm pretty low maintenance (I think!)

Hair cut and roots coloured / highlights 3 or 4 times a year (will sometimes only have the highlights every other visit and they still look good as I just get T section done for a hint of lightness).

Pedicure with gel polish every month - I have horrible hands and bite my nails, but my feet are always immaculate (I live in Birkenstocks for about 8 months of the year). And by pedicure I don't mean a file and polish (which some salons seem to think it is!), but a proper soak / foot scrub etc. Well worth it for me, but if I'm pushed for time I will soak / scrub / footfile the hooves myself and just get a file and gel polish done at salon.

That's it for me! I have had lash extensions / brow tint in the past and tbh wasn't that impressed (not bothered enough to try a different salon either).

BIossomtoes · 07/09/2023 13:50

Hair cut every six weeks
Pedicure about the same in the summer
A facial or massage once in a blue moon.

WtfHormones · 07/09/2023 13:51

Wax lady bits that's it.

PinkDaffodil2 · 07/09/2023 13:51

More than you - I get my hair cut twice a year!
Thinking of going back to having my eyelashes tinted though, made me feel more put together when not wearing makeup.

safetyzone · 07/09/2023 13:57

Gel pedis - I can normally stretch it to every 6-8 weeks. But I do it all year round cos I hate my toe nails.
Haircut about once every 2 months.
Highlight maybe 3-4 times a year.
Waxing is only done before holidays, probably should do more often...
I probably now need to add semi permanent brow makeup to the list, it will be once a year.
All other things are occasional and not routine, like manis, massages etc.

roastytoastysnowballs · 07/09/2023 13:59

I wrote on this once that I was low maintenance and got eaten alive Grin

I dye my own hair
Cut once a year
Monthly leg/bikini waxing
Gel nails every 3 weeks
Eyebrows every 3 weeks
Botox every 3 months

I still consider myself low maintenance Grin

blahblahblah1654 · 07/09/2023 14:00

Hair cut and coloured 2-3 times a year. SNS on my nails once a month.

BirdiePlantaganet · 07/09/2023 14:05

Facial every 4 weeks
Hollywood wax every 8 weeks or so
Haircut every 9 months ish
Botox about twice a year

That’s it. I do my own manicure and pedicure.

I am extremely low maintenance compared to many of my friends.

Aposterhasnoname · 07/09/2023 14:09

Every six weeks- hair cut and coloured, bikini wax, eye brow wax, lash tint and gel toes. When going on holiday add gel finger nails. Would do that every six weeks too, but not allowed at work.

clowniform · 07/09/2023 14:10

Haircut every 8 weeks.
Wouldn't describe myself as low maintenance particularly as I do other stuff myself: dye hair, tidy brows, mani/pedi, over-elaborate skincare routine 😁
My friends cover a wide range, from proper hippie to tweakment addicts.

RidingMyBike · 07/09/2023 14:12

Fairly low maintenance here.

Haircut every 2-3 months. Have never coloured it.

Eyebrow shape about every six months as I struggle to keep them even myself.

About every 1-2 years I treat myself to a facial/massage package.

sezzer87 · 07/09/2023 14:12

I get hybrid lash extensions and trim my own hair. That's it

RidingMyBike · 07/09/2023 14:14

The facial/massage is really enjoyable and relaxing and I should probably make it an annual treat!

TeaMistress · 07/09/2023 14:15

Gel manicure every 4 weeks.

Gel pedicure every 8 weeks
Hollywood / full leg / underarm wax every 8 weeks
Hair colour every 12 weeks

It's all self care and makes me feel better.

Zipps · 07/09/2023 14:16

Trim by mobile hairdresser three x a year.
No longer have highlights.
Everything else I do myself - make up, pedi, mani, skincare and facials.
I have a spa day every month or so and have a massage twice a year.

Girlwithapple · 07/09/2023 14:19

I get my hair trimmed every 4 weeks, I have short, thick, fast growing hair so end up looking like a mushroom if I don't have it done regularly. I colour it myself when I remember.

Pre covid I used to use a lovely beauty therapist for manicure/pedicure and a facial and back massage once a month. Sadly, covid saw the end of her business. I have a gel kit myself now so once in a while I do my nails, can't remember the last time I did my toes though!! I also bought eyebrow and eyelash dye so once in a blue moon I do that. I no longer get facials. I still go for massages but because I have an active job I get a sports massage now, which is not a relaxing treat 🤣🤣

CrushingOnRubies · 07/09/2023 14:20

Every 4 months dye, cut and blow dry hair
Every 4 weeks legs and lady bits are waxed
Manicure occasionally once twice a year
Massage once a year

Limth · 07/09/2023 14:32

Hair cut every 8-10 weeks.

Hair bleached and toned every 16-20 weeks (i.e. every other haircut appointment).

Hair just toned every 10 weeks.

Eyebrows tinted and shaped every 5-6 weeks.

Deep tissue massage every 6 months, or however long its been that I've forgotten the pain of it.

Daisy54 · 07/09/2023 15:06

I guess I’m very low maintenance:- haircut once a year, and that’s it. And to be honest, I’m never happy with the result. My husband does a better job.
The rest I do myself:- colour my hair, manicure/ pedicure when needed, skin rollering once every 6 weeks.

katscamel · 07/09/2023 15:42

Haircut and roots done whenever I can leave the country. So...Jan was UK, March in Lebanon, June northern part of country I'm in, August UK and next one will be in Dubai lol. Waxing, manicures (no gel ruins my nails, facials the same.
Once upon a time a long time ago I'd have all of the above plus pedicures, massage and body scrub anywhere between every week and every month. I did enjoy my pampering.

cactidream · 07/09/2023 15:54

I have finally found a good hairdresser so only every 4/5months
Pedicure- 1 a month (but I hate my toenails)
Manicure/ shellac- every 3 weeks
Botox on my forehead every 6months
Skin treatment like mesotherapy etc - once a year

So, pretty low maintenance

Ladies, I am surprised how many of you are doing bikini wax.
If you do proper laser treatment and get it in a package, you can have this issue resolved! I researched a lot- and got a package of 5 sessions; after 2 years, I cannot imagine returning to waxing.
Money-wise and time-wise, in the long run, it is also a better solution.

EffortlessDesmond · 07/09/2023 16:00

Haircut every 8- 10 weeks.

Eyebrows threaded and tinted every six weeks, plus gel pedi in summer or for holidays.

Wednesdaysotherchild · 07/09/2023 16:02

None! I cut my own long curly hair, maybe once every few years visit a hairdresser.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 07/09/2023 16:04

Hair cut every four weeks, eyebrows waxed/threaded every three. I do my own nails/toes, shave rather than wax, and tint my own brows/lashes.

lavender2023 · 07/09/2023 16:29

None other than a hair cut once or twice a year.

I dye my hair at home (£12 japanese hairdye that is easy to apply), use a facial trimmer to remove lip hair and stray eyebrow hairs, razor for armpits and legs and hair removal cream for intimate parts. Nothing with nails. I use disposable contact lenses

I spend my money mainly on makeup- i just worked out i use 13 different makeup products on a daily basis! plus facial essence, facial oil and moisturizer and two cleansers.
