Princess Cruise - what to pack for evening wear (non formal nights)

We are going on our first cruise next year with Princess. I understand what the dress code is for the formal nights and also during the day for smart casual but I’m unsure what to wear on an evening when it isn’t a formal night.

Plan to mainly eat in the restaurants of an evening and not the buffet. What type of clothing should I pack (Female aged 40). Also what’s the dress code for men on an evening (e.g trousers, shirt and shoes or more casual)?

Many thanks in advance.

If you’re dining in the restaurant, I’d dress quite smartly. I tend to take dresses that can be “lifted” by a nice necklace and pretty sandals. There again, smart trousers with a favourite top would look the part.

For men, it’s best to follow a similar dress code if you’re eating in the restaurant rather than the buffet. Trousers, shirt (or polo shirt) and shoes.

For the buffet, it would be more laid-back. I’d have a shower and put clean clothes on, however casual. If you’ve just arrived back from an excursion, mind, there might not even be chance for that 🙂. No one will bat an eyelid.

Enjoy your lovely cruise. I’m sailing on the Sky Princess myself next year!

Forgot to say, I think black or very dark jeans are acceptable in the restaurant. For men and women.

Thank you @MontalbanoFan really helpful.

We are going on the Diamond Princess but my MIL is going on Sky in September next year and she can’t wait either.

Our first cruise and I’m really looking forward to it.

Channel 5 is following people on a Princess cruise ship at the moment. Daily at 4pm.
That might give you some ideas.

I tend to go with navy or black trousers and a nice top.

Thank you for suggestions. Ah fab I’ll try and find that on Channel 5 @ThreeKneeRepeater

I was on Sky Princess last year. For non-formal night evening meals in restaurants I wore nice knee length dresses with sandals and a wee cardigan/cover up. With all the eating & drinking I wanted comfortable and not too tight around the waist! 😁

i also wore a couple of nice tops with floaty black trousers.

Husband wore chino style trousers with a nice open necked shirt.
