Totally random question about hair extentions

I keep being spammed on facebook by adverts for hair extensions (gawd knows why, I'm not in the market for them). The sort that attach with little rings near the base of the hair, or the ones on little strips about 5cm wide. How do you brush your hair with them in? Whenever I brush my own hair the brush runs over my scalp - i.e. down to the root of my hair. Wouldn't this snag on the extension clippy things? How does it work?

Like I said I'm not intending to get any but it's always perplexed me how people can brush their hair with them in!

You use a special softer brush for going over the rings (to brush your roots) and then you can use a normal brush to brush through the lengths.

The softer brush has very bendable teeth so it doesn't snag on the rings.

Ah-ha! A bit like a baby brush?

Not quite as soft.

Kind of similar to a Tangle Teezer.
