I need wide fitting at the front, a cushioned insole and good arch support.

I like Allbirds and Skechers.

Looking for other options for the gym and for general use.

What should I be looking at?

Pushing this for you because I’m looking for the same

I wear ASICS: I think they tick all your boxes. They're very comfortable, but pricey and they look sporty so not as attractive as Allbirds (which I'm a big fan of).

I wear Allbirds at work, but I wear ASICS to walk to and from work.

I like ASICS, but I’d try a men’s pair for wide fitting at the front. My current pair of women’s is quite slim around the toe, so I’m trying men’s next time.

In running trainers New Balance, On clould, Brooks and Hokas all do a wide fit

cocksstrideintheevening · 03/09/2023 19:03

Brooks?

Brooks Adrenaline GTS

New Balance do a wide fitting.
If you have fairly small feet consider buying boys' trainers.
For the gym, don't spend a lot. 'Entry level' Asics should be fine. If you are a runner, ask at a running shop and be prepared to try different styles and sizes.
If you want fashion trainers, buy ones that look nice.

Nike tend to be narrow, and I've never found Adidas comfortable, but that's me.

Altra shoes have been "life transforming" - I'm still fat and wobble when I run, but at least my feet don't hurt..
They look like normal trainers, not weird or barefooted, but have foot shaped toe box. Different levels of cushioning depending on what you want. So comfortable and supportive.
