Wow. That's a beautiful dress. I think bronze bag and shoes would be lovely

Ceit · 31/08/2023 10:58

Agree, that's a lovely dress, fits you really well too. Bronze should go nicely and will add an autumnal touch.

FadedRed · 31/08/2023 10:59

What a lovely dress!

Apple55 · 31/08/2023 11:56

Bronze or gold would be perfect. Dress is beautiful. I had a similar colour dress for an event and I wore rose gold accessories.

Have you tried Esska for shoes? Comfier heels but super cool IMO

Cubic · 31/08/2023 21:02

Beautiful dress

Penguinsmum · 31/08/2023 21:36

Absolutely lovely. You will look great.

SarahLHs · 31/08/2023 21:39

Lovely dress! Like both shoes but the first ones would look amazing with it.

Specialtoes · 31/08/2023 21:40

I think it's lovely.....but my gran always insisted green at a wedding would bring bad luck. Obviously nonsense, but I don't think she'll be the only one.

AtrociousCircumstance · 31/08/2023 21:41

Where’s the dress from OP?

jeaux90 · 01/09/2023 08:36

I second Esska, their platform shoes are gorgeous and comfortable.

Not this again. OK, I can get on board with not wearing a white or cream dress (If that is what the bride is wearing). But otherwise, can we PLEASE leave all the no red/black/green/too long/too short/too fancy/too plain nonsense in the past? As is blinding evident from even a quick glance at the S&B board, we all agonise enough over what to wear to weddings. (Super dress OP)

You can wear what you like, but people are basically asking what others at the wedding will think of their frock and there will be some who think wearing an "unlucky" colour at a wedding is off.

Mycatisthebestever · 01/09/2023 08:38

Beautiful. I am a real sucker for lace dresses.

Whataretheodds · 01/09/2023 08:40

Dress lovely - Where's it from?
I see enough green bridesmaids dresses that I don't think green is a thing any more (or red, but I'll stand by no black or white for church or UK registry-type weddings).

Bronze or gold shoes yes, but I'd get a block heel.

I know, and I'm angry at all of us (myself included!) for caring about, and pandering to this imagined judging.

LadyEloise1 · 01/09/2023 08:44

It's a gorgeous dress but fussy ankle strap shoes would spoil it I think.
Dress and shoes would be "fighting" for attention.
A simpler shoe would enhance the gorgeous dress.

Ceit · 01/09/2023 08:49

The Esska shoes posted by @jeaux90 look more comfortable and are what I'd go for, but I'm guessing strappy-spiky is more your personal style? Only you know whether you'll cope with wearing them all day. As far as it's possible to tell on screen, the colour of the Reiss ones looks a really good match.
(I've never replied to a post asking for a dress opinion before and I now feel absurdly invested! 😂)

a very quick google, which presumably you have access to if using Mumsnet, would tell you this is an old tradition in relation to Irish and Scottish weddings. Unlikely to be an issue in Essex, and why most people on MN are not familiar with it.

FadedRed · 01/09/2023 13:49

Doesn’t the colour thingy apply to the colour the bride is wearing not the guests, with the obvious exceptions of black (too funereal) and white (too bridal)? I believe it refers to this old rhyme which is often misinterpreted to apply to the guests:
Married in white, you will have chosen all right.
Married in grey, you will go far away.
Married in black, you will wish yourself back.
Married in red, you’ll wish yourself dead.
Married in blue, you will always be true.
Married in pearl, you’ll live in a whirl.
Married in green, ashamed to be seen.
Married in yellow, ashamed of the fellow.
Married in brown, you’ll live out of town.
Married in pink, your spirits will sink

Araminta34 · 01/09/2023 13:53

The dress is beautiful. It fits you very well and looks really chic. Bronze accessories would work well.

I agree. Definitely no bling. Also, for Autumn I think the strappies look a bit summery. The Esska shoes are gorgeous but 💰💰. See if you can find something similar?

Flutterbye22 · 01/09/2023 14:33

Thank you everyone. You’ve all been so helpful and complimentary!

i see what you’re saying about the shoes… a block heel would be better. It’s been surprisingly difficult to find nice heels in bronze! Lots of gold however, but I feel fixed on bronze!
