I am visiting Australia and New Zealand in a few weeks - any fabulous brands that we can’t get in the UK that I should be looking out for? Thinking particularly fashion and beauty / skincare brands.

For those that you can get here eg bec and bridge does anyone know if / how much cheaper things like that are to buy when I’m there?

I've bought good things from Country Road before, although they seem to be having a Succession beige phase at the moment www.countryroad.com.au/woman-new-in/

Most of the cost benefit has been erased by the fall in exchange rates sadly

Swimwear & beachwear is usually great, much better selection, same with gym & yoga wear

I've had a few bargains at the end of a season, eg our spring is their autumn so summer clothes will be in the sale

I really like Go-To skincare - you'll find it at Mecca.

Have a look in David Jones for Bec and Bridge etc.

Good brand for gym & yoga gear Running Bare www.runningbare.com.au/new-arrivals#catpage=2

Also Dharma Bums www.dharmabums.com.au/collections/new-arrival?page=2

Also Lorna Jane although they are stocked in UK now, bit of a cheaper price point

Where will you be visiting in NZ?
And give us an idea of what you are after fashion-wise - accessories? casual? size?, basics? designer?

IjustbelieveinMe · 30/08/2023 05:25

I live in Melbourne and shop only in the sales at Gorman and Kuwaii. Uniqlo is good, but you have those in the UK now don't you? I have found clothes so expensive here, I just generally order seasonal stuff from Hush or Oliver Bonas in the UK and the clothes cost less and are better quality. So I will start looking for your summer wear now, to order online for when our months start to get warmer. Skincare is also more expensive here, but I will shop and treat myself at Mecca or chemist warehouse. Not the answer you were expecting. If you are talking about food or coffee, that's another subject and one I have embraced fully to the max lol!!!

I really like Mimco for bags and accessories (hair bobbles, costume jewellery). An Aussie friend highly recommends The Witchery for shoes and clothes but I haven't bought anything from there myself (was travelling light last time so no space for shopping).

Thanks everyone - sounds like I might not be getting any bargains but I do love finding “new” brands that aren’t yet a thing in the U.K.!

@SueblueNZ we’ll be visiting both Christchurch and Auckland in New Zealand. Probably after fashion more than accessories - not sure if you’re familiar with the brands given the username but the equivalents of Arket / sezanne etc? And anything beauty / skincare related ☺️

We visit family in NZ and really like the clothes in Karen Walker, and I also bought a nice top in Trenery. I used to love Minnie Cooper bags, but they have closed now. I like the Trilogy skincare range too, but because of the exchange rate nothing is cheap cheap.
DD loved Huffer for hoodies and Glassons for T-shirts

@Sadilicious Trilogy skincare has been in the UK for quite a few years so probably easier (and cheaper) to just buy it here. Even Holland & Barrett stock it.

Oooh so they do - I love the 'Everything Balm' so will go and stock up.
Thanks!

Did you buy anything in the end? Any recommendations?
