"just add a belt"

I'd love to. I only have one belt, a functional black leather one that holds my jeans from gaping at the back. I used to have more! It doesn't work well with dresses and I've got a load of dresses I miss wearing. I lost my style at some point along the path and I'm trying to find it again.

I should probably get another belt. How many belts do you have?

A belt to wear with a dress to define more of a waist, perhaps a tan or brown one, so that I can throw on a dress and just add a belt.

Belt recommendations please! Nothing that will flap when worn with a dress.

I've recently bought MySaviour belt from Joe Browns and I'm happy with it. I got red

Does it not flap a lot at the side?

A stretchy 'cinch' belt is good fot dresses. I have one from M&S although its years old.

I have a couple of wide belts made of a woven material in a beige or brown that I use to wear with dresses. I have seen them a few places but I think mine just came from Amazon (I got them as a gift but I've seen them on there). They have a buckle but no holes for them, you just push the metal bit through the fabric and it seems to close up again when you take it off.
I have struggled to find a decent mid width belt though which I'd love to get. All I see are very skinny belts or wide ones.

H&M is good for waist belts. They do some multi packs so you can have different colours for different dresses. Other Stories has nice waist belts too.

Do you belt wearers just pop one on with a dress? Even if no belt loops? I have a few dresses which would look better (on me) with a bit more of a defined waist but belts feel like an alien world to me - I don't think I've ever used one and feel weirdly self-conscious about it!

I rediscovered a thick, black elasticated 'cinch' belt in my knock drawer yesterday. I have lost a small amount of weight and a loose, chiffon midi dress that was abut shapeless last year swamps me now the belt is a revelation! It makes the dress wearable again and I look like I have a tiny waist! I used to wear it with pencil skirts circa 2012 but I think it looks better now. I will try to find a link to similar. I trued it on with lots of dresses after my success, and it transformed quite a few of them for me.

Just this sort of thing: https://www.wolfandbadger.com/uk/aniston-elastic-belt/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=-&adgroupid=&utm_content=&utm_term=&gclid=Cj0KCQjwmvSoBhDOARIsAK6aV7jmkgEtzx4QimXg8fqTWzD6TxfwfsPCBFsX7hoqmfsY0xElUUP94NkaApBhEALw_wcB

You don't need belt loops with a thick elastic belt, it just squeezes into place. I think what does matter is the cut of the dress, if the waist sits too high or too low it might look odd cinched in, iyswim.

I have one metal chain belt and one black one which goes with a winter skirt. I don't wear either as my waist in only slightly smaller than my hips and boobs

To stop belts flapping, I thread a hair elastic onto it in matching colour and use that to secure the loose end.
