What to wear to Goodwood Revival

Husband has been offered a pair of tickets for Goodwood Revival next weekend.

Has anyone been and what is the dress code?

The website looks like a 1940s cosplay! Do women have to effectively go in fancy dress? Otherwise do you have to 'dress up".

Don't want to look over or under dressed!

The vast majority of people do dress in vintage /retro clothes. Overwhelmingly 1940s but not exclusively so. It's all a bit more wearable than fancy dress or cos play, think tea dresses, but there are people who go in military-style clothes too. Last time I went a wore a dress from Collectif and the time before that I wore vintage-cut dungarees from Freddies of Pinewood with a striped top, quiff, and red lipstick. Shoes are a struggle as the car park can be muddy, so I've always gone for flats.

There are also stalls there where you can buy vintage clothes and a place where you can get make up done. (Also lots of local salons in Chichester will be doing up-dos in the morning, but it might be too late to book an appointment).

I won tickets a few years ago and had about a month to get an outfit together. For years I'd dreamt of going and how I would look but I could have done with longer to get an outfit together. People really do go all out! I was seriously impressed and felt underdressed !!

Fabulous sounds really fun

If you find an outfit great if not just embrace the experience

You can really do 1940's, 50's, 60's or 70's. I've done the Land Girl look (which is easy and comfortable), the 70's Margo Ledbetter look and the 50's tea dress and headscarf look.

It doesn't matter too much, just don't go in 'normal' today clothes - you'll really stick out then 😀

My sister & dad went together for my dads 70th in late 1940s/ early 50s style clothing- my sister got most of it from charity shops & local vintage clothing shops.

Just looked at the photo of them both & she wore a dark pencil skirt, 40s style platform heels, a silk blouse, a red pillbox hat & a smart cropped jacket with a silk scarf.

I am going for first time.

it’s going to be a hot one - I wonder how many people will be changing their outfits due to the heat.

I'm a regular and here at the event now. I had to get an emergency dress purchase as my original outfit was going to be way too hot.

I went yesterday. Fun day but exhausting plus I have a whopping blister.
