And want to look arty, trendy and massively hot, obvs. Do you clever creative folk have any ideas?

Budget: £250ish
5’4”
Size 8
Big boobs
Want to hide belly and upper arms
Usually tend to biker jacket, DMs, pretty dresses, jumpsuits, dungarees. Bottle blonde and red lipstick.
age 50

Would love any suggestions??!

Thanks 😊

Great invite!

Have you got shoes/bag/ coat or does the budget need to cover everything?

MarshyMcMarshFace · 25/08/2023 23:51

Wear that!

Coat will be leather jacket. Can probably find a bag, whatever I end up wearing. I’d buy shoes on top of the budget if I was going to wear them regularly.

Thanks Marshy!

The jacket, hair, lipstick and possibly DMs are all good - it’s the bit in the middle I’m struggling with!

So you basically want a pretty dress to wear with a leather jacket and DMs?

SurpriseSparDay · 26/08/2023 07:24

That might be a bit of a visual cliche, however lovely the dress. How about these:

https://alemais.com/collections/collection-11-fall-23/products/elisabetta-pant

instead, with a completely neutral t shirt in your preferred colour, neckline and cut?

SurpriseSparDay · 26/08/2023 08:18

Alternatively, I’d strongly suggest taking your pick from here:

https://batsheva.com/en-gb/collections/new-arrivals/products/robin-dress-in-woodgrain-fantasy?variant=43871580356857

Dress (not jacket) for example. Do scroll through all the photos of the new collection - cute gallery references.

I like those Batsheva dresses. Thank you.

Maybe a jumpsuit?

The jacket won’t stay on for long.

I'd go with what you normally wear, have a lovely time. Lucky you to be invited.

Looked at the shortlist and love Barbara Walker's work that has been nominated.

I usually like Stine Goya for art things - here are a few options?

Too strappy? Hand drawn print. https://shop.paolita.co.uk/products/tainted-love-alexa-jumpsuit?_pos=1&_sid=c43134c61&_ss=r

Have you looked at wolf and badger. Some lovely ones on there. I did a search of up to £300. First 3 are a little over budget. https://www.wolfandbadger.com/uk/fiesta-jumpsuit/

Tunic and palazzo pants in budget. There are several variants. https://www.wolfandbadger.com/uk/botanica-tunic-palazzo-pant-set/

The Elizabeth dress comes in other colours. I don't own it but saw it in Harvey Nick's and was very tempted.

Moneymonkey · 26/08/2023 22:31

@NatashaDancing it's lovely isn't it? I do like lots of their dresses for being statement pieces Smile

I keep going back and looking at that dress.

I like the one DorothyWhippleFan posted too , although it might be too literal!

Have you looked at Nobody's Child? Their dresses and jumpsuits are lovely and well within your budget, I like these mini & midi dresses and the jumpsuit has a shirred back, so would be a good fit....

Sorry, just back to this after a hectic weekend. Thank you so much everyone for taking the time to post all the lovely links!

I love some of the Nobody’s Child pieces, and the Elizabeth dress that Moneymonkey linked to. I think if it’s a dress, it would need to be a mini. I can’t past feeling like a sack of potatoes in a midi, and I have good legs (I know that isn’t consistent with considering a jumpsuit, but hey 🤷‍♀️)

LlynTegid, I like Barbara Walker’s work too. I’m very excited about this 😃
