Cardigan/jacket with midi/maxi summer dresses

Looking for ideas for layering with maxi/mini summer dresses-going away shortly and will be cooler in the evenings. I like denim jackets with my dresses but it’s not overly comfy-ok to walk in not to sit and eat dinner in-any ideas? Not a fan of bog standard cardigans. TIA

I have two denim-style linen jackets. One in olive and the other in off-white that are my go-to jackets for summer.

I also have a lacy cardigan that is nice with dresses on a summer evening. Sounds frumpy, but there are lots to choose from. maybe get one in a bright colour. I have a bright citrus cotton cardi that matches just about every summer outfit I have, from navy, khaki or black.
