Philips Lumea not making a difference

I bought a Lumea a year ago to remove facial hair. I have the right hair / skin combination of light skin and dark hair and follow the instructions repeating initially every fortnight then month. It literally makes no difference. The hair just grows back in the same place.

What could I be doing wrong? I used to go to a clinic to get IPL and it worked but I bought the Lumea as more convenient (I thought)

Mine isn’t working too well either OP, I don’t think I am consistent enough but OTOH I think if I had seen some progress I’d be more motivated!! Hope someone can help

Hope someone can help up @LadyoftheLavaLamp ! It wasn't cheap! I was consistent for the first six months but have gotten less so due to seeing zero progress.

i don’t believe its as strong as salon lasers.

from what i know, its a good thing to use after you have had proper laser removal sessions to keep it topped up.

for me it worked in some areas, for example legs but not bikini line.

Make sure you shave before you do it and not wax/threading or plucking. The hair needs to have its root still in the follicle as the IPL uses the pigment in the hair to destroy the follicle

I got the Lumea a year ago for facial hair. It’s helped but hadn’t got rid of it. Legs and bikini line have been miraculous though after only a couple of months.

Are you shaving your face before you use it though? Or plucking the hairs? If the latter then it won’t work!

I got one and it made only slight difference. Was told I had pcos so wouldn't work as expected.

When I first tried it on underarm hair following the instructions it didn't seem to make a difference. I put it away. The next year I tried again but didn't check the instructions and thought you were supposed to do it every week to start with. I think I did it once a week for 4 weeks. It worked that time!

Ohthatsabitshit · 20/08/2023 23:30

Similar hair type and works brilliantly for me. Are you using the right setting?

dearanon · 20/08/2023 23:33

I used it everyday for a week. Then went to once a week then followed the schedule on the app.

HateTheView · 21/08/2023 00:02

It just doesn't work on my knees! And a few random leg hairs on my shins and underarm hairs. I have the perfect skin//hair combo. I think I will try every day.

I started off with an old Boots brand IPL and I think that was stronger, it got rid of 90% of my very dark hair. Eventually it wore out so I replaced with the Lumea which is okay for top ups but I do find it needs to be used weekly, and I agree with shaving not plucking.

goteam · 21/08/2023 18:23

Yes I have been shaving first and use the highest setting (5). I'll give it a go weekly and see if that helps. Thanks.
