BaconAndAvocado · 19/08/2023 17:31

I'm 54 and have been recommended this for my frizzy menopausal hair.

Has anyone had positive results?

Interested in affect on skin and nails too.

Which supplements are the best?

Davinia Taylor's Willpowders Swiss collagen, find her and her business on insta or Google it (yes, the one who was in Hollyoaks years ago)

I've just ordered some from Hey Nutrition. They had good reviews - I saw them recommended somewhere, but I can't remember where 😁

I like revive collagen which comes in a sachet and you can literally just drink it straight from there. It is bloody expensive, but I do think it has made a slight difference.

Cookerhood · 19/08/2023 18:09

Doesn't collagen just get digested in your gut like any other protein?

Livedandlearned · 19/08/2023 18:15

I tried collagen and didn't see results after a month.

Livedandlearned · 19/08/2023 18:16

Chlorella is good for skin and nails and it boosts natural collagen production.

I’ve just started taking revive active beauty complex (it’s a sachet you mix with water). It’s only been a week so no difference yet but here’s hoping it makes me look young and beautiful! 😂

You need collagen peptides then it doesn't, it's actually really good for your gut

I use a marine ones I buy on Amazon. I got them in the hopes they’d help my fibromyalgia. At first I didn’t think they were working but when I stopped I definitely noticed a difference in my symptoms. I do feel my skin is generally better too.

I find I ‘creak’ less when I’ve taking collagen regularly. 🤣

PawPrintsInMyPansies · 19/08/2023 22:33

Ooo, F; I’m looking to to this atm.

AzureBlue99 · 19/08/2023 22:50

I take Bare Biology collagen powder. Much improved skin - if I don't use body lotion it doesn't matter anymore. My nails were already good. Frizzy menopause hair - no change. Receding hairline - 50% filled back in.

Originally bought for my knees. Marginally improved.

I’ve researched this. Some say they’re rubbish and others say they work well.

Loads are on Facebook and recommended by the likes of davina McCall and various other celebs. They cost a fortune every month. I’ve read marine collagen is the one to try and 3000mg a day. I’ve gone for Holland and Barrett. They had a deal on so I’ve bought 2 bottles to last 4 months. Will see how I get on. Start tomorrow.

Peptides can’t be absorbed by the gut it needs to be broken into amino acids.

It’s all woo bobbins. Like ancient cultures eating their enemies hearts 🙄

That's what I thought, & amino acids are just that, building blocks of protein just like any other source of protein.

Good luck. If they don’t work, they don’t. I don’t feel like I’ve subscribed to anything or spent a huge amount of they do nothing.

Exactly, and there’s also the placebo effect to consider 😀

Do Hey Nutrition work?

I always suspect of all wonder tablets and supplements.

Itsalwaysthelasttime · 08/03/2024 11:00

All protein is broken down into amino acids then rebuilt as the body uses it. So any form of protein will be used in the same way by the body. So collagen is a very expensive way to up your protein. There are loads of videos on YouTube by experts not trying to grift their overpriced collagen supplements tgat explain the science.
