Recommend me a candle please

Looking for a candle as part of a gift for a friend, but unfortunately I don't have time to go to the shops so will be buying online. I don't love Neom, and want to avoid Jo Loves or Jo Malone. Can anyone recommend me a candle that smells light and fresh with a good scent throw? I'd like a 'good' brand, like Boy Smells or Overose, something that she'll know is a nice gift.

Bath and body works are my favourite. You can get it from next.

omgsally · 19/08/2023 11:53

Diptyque then.

Cyclingmummy1 · 19/08/2023 11:54

Haeckels included one in last month's subscription box. They are expensive but smell amazing.

Diptyque ?

Cyclingmummy1 · 19/08/2023 11:56

Espa are also lovely and I've just finished White Company's grapefruit which was delicious.

bryceQ · 19/08/2023 12:00

Espa
Lumos apothecary

Those are my favourite brands

evtheria · 19/08/2023 12:00

Aery, Diptyque

ScrambledSmegs · 19/08/2023 12:02

Diptyque - if you want light and fresh Figuier is a good bet, it's very popular.

Other brands like True Grace are lovely and I buy them for myself but there's something special about Diptyque as a gift.

However I now go for small local candle-makers as I like to support them - if there's a company like that near you it feels slightly more personal.

Dyptique but can be expensive. White company candles are lovely

Another suggestion for The White Company. I love Seychelles in Summer and Winter in winter!

Thereyougo10 · 19/08/2023 13:31

Byredo.

evtheria · 19/08/2023 13:52

Oh, just been trying to recall the last candle my aunt sent, Só Soy was the make.
However she sends me many from small Irish companies, and they're nearly always fantastic. All-natural, interesting scents, great throw... Look to Irish brands!

KirstenBlest · 19/08/2023 14:59

Diptyque

Possimpible · 19/08/2023 16:47

Thanks for the recommendation, can't believe I forgot about Diptyque. Anyone tried the Acqua di Parma candles? I'm looking at the Mirror di Panarea one? Gets good reviews. Budget not a problem, I've got about £65 to spend just on this part of the gift (it's a joint gift that I'm sorting)

Byredo.

Yes!

dontgobaconmyheart · 19/08/2023 17:00

Le Labo are some of the best I've tried.

Otherwise Diptyque or DS & Durga.

I like Byredo and Boy smells but wouldn't say I'd describe any of the scents as light and fresh. I find quite often with higher price point candles that the scents are much heavier if anything.

CinnamonCoffee · 19/08/2023 17:27

Nest do some lovely and fresh candles.

MokaEfti · 19/08/2023 17:38

Baobab Feathers Touareg has a gorgeous minty fragrance and you end up with a beautiful glass vase when it's finished.

NashvilleQueen · 19/08/2023 17:44

Neom
Seven Seventeen
Thomas Street Candle Company

NotSoBright · 19/08/2023 17:47

Byredo Cotton Poplin is lovely
