Bobbi Brown bone eyeshadow- alternatives?

MrsPepperp0t · 17/08/2023 21:02

I absolutely love this eyeshadow as a base, but it seems to be out of stock everywhere, making me wonder if it's being discontinued.

Does anyone have any recommendations for an alternative? I bought a No7 eyeshadow called Innocent on a whim, thinking it might do the same job, and I hate it - too white and shimmery.

I should add that Bobbi Brown cosmetics are far above my usual make up budget so cheaper recommendations especially welcome...

I don't know if it's the same, but No7 do one called Calico that isn't shimmery and is a very pale beige.

I use Trinny London eye2eye in Justice. On its own during the day and as a base for night time

MrsPepperp0t · 18/08/2023 06:03

Thanks! I'll look those up.

Boots 17 and Natural Collection do something very similar, for a couple of £

Bare Minerals concealer in well-rested really cleans up the eye and can be used on other areas of the face. It completely knocks out my teabag stains.

Ugh. I hate BB now. They discontinued everything decent; creme eyeshadow pots, coloured eyeliner and their foundation is now all yellow.

I have a Too Faced palette and use Heaven, it’s matte and non-shimmer.

Natural collection have discontinued Seashell which was the one like Bone, I've been using No.7 Honey nude instead which is completely matte.

I went to superdrug and came back with some Max Factor Honey Nude (is that what you meant, @Pinkywoo or is the identical name a weird coincidence?!)

Looks OK on my hand if that's anything to go by. Will try it on my eyes tomorrow!

Yes sorry Max Factor, lack of sleep!

Shopper727 · 18/08/2023 19:21

I have the stick in bone it’s fab have they discontinued that too? Hope not! I really like too faced eyeshadows I’d look for a similar colour with them. Annoying when stuff gets discontinued

TetrapanaxRex · 18/08/2023 19:33

Mac Blanc type.

Bluebird1234 · 18/08/2023 20:45

Jones Road is Bobbi’s new brand and they still do powder eyeshadow.

MrsPepperp0t · 19/08/2023 06:01

Ah interesting- just googled Jones Road. Cream matte seems to be the new bone.

Well, thanks to this thread and BB's rebrand I now have a Max Factor £4.99 alternative!

Thanks for this!

OP I have been on exactly the same quest as you so thank you for starting this thread!

SirVixofVixHall · 20/08/2023 17:57

I was going to suggest Jones Road, I see a pp has already. The colour palette is along the same lines as Bobbi Brown used be, unsurprisingly as it is her company.

declutteringmymind · 20/08/2023 19:43

Have a look on eBay for the discontinued shade

Couchto5ktowine · 20/08/2023 19:47

Bobbi Brown have really gone downhill. They’ve discontinued a bunch of stuff, including my favourite lipstick and the customer service has been terrible: online is never available and in store they don’t seem to have alternatives to offer.

if Vinted and EBay don’t have anything, then like others I’d try Jones Road. I got some No 7 stuff which have done a decent job of imitating them but the quality and durability isn’t great to be honest. Fingers crossed BB ups its game when we all jump ship!

Bluebird1234 · 20/08/2023 21:15

I’ve found a lot of cosmetic companies don’t have their usual favourites available. Lancôme belle de teint bronzer disappeared and Chanel had problems too. Not sure if there is a move away from talc in general but I found traditional eye shadow hard to find.

Another76543 · 01/10/2023 11:49

They’ve been out of stock and discontinuing stuff for ages. Their neutral matt shadows were good.

I’m still using the Bobbi stuff I’ve already got, but will look at Mac, Jones Road (set up by Bobbi Brown), Hourglass and Chantecaille when I need a replacement.

Jones Road do a shadow called Cream (Matte) which is described as “a light bone”. That might be a good alternative.

Hhardy · 21/08/2024 23:10

Hi was the max factor honey nude a good alternative? Or have you found anything better?
