Inspiration for a bohemian maxi style dress for special occassion

Help me please! I'm looking for a beautiful, hippyish, long bohemian maxi dress for a relaxed wedding.

I'm a size 10 and suit dresses which show my shoulders, arms and collar bone but not too much boob (as I'm pretty small in that department). I have dreams of wearing a long floaty pretty dress with a hippy vibe.

I've looked on... Anthropology but nothing fits the bill, Karen Millen but its all too structured. Silk Fred looks like it might be abit too polyester. Free People - I can't shake the feeling it looks like it all might be very thin fabric with a dubious fit.

Please please help - I only have 10 days and searching Google for bohemian maxi dress simply brings up pages of dresses with billowing puff ball sleeves and I can't see the wood for the trees.

My budget is not huge - I'd like to stick to around £150. I have light olive skin and brown hair.

Help!

3 from John Lewis, maybe not boho enough? The one with sleeves comes in 4 different colours

Have you looked at Monsoon? They tend to be quite boho and have lots of maxi dresses in which I think would fit the bill?

I was recommending La Double J on another thread yesterday. They’ll provide plenty of inspiration - and you could look for their dresses on pre-owned sites. Or rent one.

Alternatively, probably to rent or buy pre-owned:

Free People
Plumo
Alemais

all have floaty, boho clothes. You might be able to get something within budget from Free People in the sales.

Ohhh look at Aspiga.

Some gorgeous ones there!!

CapaciousHag · 17/08/2023 17:25

Sorry - didn’t see Free People in your OP! They stock a variety of brands, some rather nice, so not all disappointing!

Came on to say Aspiga

Free people.

Try Boden - I had a gorgeous maxi dress from them a couple of years ago. And as ever - look for them on Vinted

I find free people quite well cut and decent fabric (not necessarily all natural but hangs well) and there are a lot of bargains on Ebay.

Ghost? Vintage Laura Ashley?

Zebracat · 17/08/2023 19:54

Kate Barton and the6 have a sale.

Thank you all so much - and so many labels/sites I've not heard off. I'm so out of the fashion loop atm! Will reply properly once children in bed and have a glass of wine to enjoy shopping 🍷

I’m making a note of that website! There’s some lovely dresses (particularly like Tabitha from what I’ve seen so far) and looks like there are plenty of others lovely ones.

RaininSummer · 18/08/2023 10:49

Joe browns usually have some lovely ones

Chopchopbusybusyworkwork · 18/08/2023 12:55

East might work- possibly on the less formal side though?

Am loving Aspiga, what beautiful clothes!

Has anyone mentioned Dilli Grey? They have some lovely bits. Or Tallulah & Hope if you love embroidery.
