Perimenopausal Whiff Advice Please!

Hi,

As is seemingly normal, I’m noticing BO a bit more. It’s more on a morning when I get up and before a shower so not offensive to anyone else. However, I’m also very sweaty during the day too (I’ve had temperature regulation issues for years due to ME/CFS but obviously peri is compounding this now).

Can I have some antiperspirant recommendations please? Preferably that don’t leave loads of white marks. I’m using a stick at the minute but it seems claggy and leaves an icky layer on my skin. I’ve tried Driclor and Perspirex but they made me itch.

I’m also using Dettol soap bar under my arms but I can’t use it anywhere else because it also makes my skin bad.

Any advice or tips that have worked for you will be much appreciated. Thank you!

There have been lots of useful threads on this. I have always got whiffy around my period and find a 'double cleanse' for the armpits help! So soap and clean with a flannel, rinse and repeat. It apparently gets all the previous days deodorant and sweat of better. I use Sure cream stick as it works and dries fast. No man made fibres either, they hold onto sweat.

I switched over to natural deodorants this year and now use Scence, love the rose one. Mitchum stopped working for me and now I'm dry and not whiffy all day. I think antiperspirants are to be avoided.

Thanks! It’s the Sure stick that I use but maybe doing the double will help get rid of residue more. I notice it more around my period too.

I always use soap rather than shower gel

Mailn and Goetz eucalyptus deodorant is great, pricey but lasts ages and no nasty residue.

I feel your pain. I have hyperhidrosis courtesy of long Covid damaging my autonomic nervous system, and then add that to peri and argh!! It feels like my life has become one long sweat-fest. 🙄

I use Secret deodorant sticks. They're American but you can buy them from Amazon UK or iHerb. They're not the cheapest (around £7+) but they're a good size and last. They're the best I've found. Way better than Sure!

I use Haeckels bar soap in the shower. That also really helps. It's £20 for a bar but they're huge so last forever.

I now use Nivea original black & white antiperspirant deodorant stick for my underarms & it's working well so far..
