Best lipstick colour matching?

I've never worn lipstick, in the 2000s I was more of a gloss person but not worn anything for years.

(Not a new thing) but speaking to my mum the other day before and after she put on lipstick (nothing else) it just clicked how much it changed her face and she looked so much more polished and bright faced with it on!

So as a treat I'd like to find my best colour.

Has anyone got any recommendations for brands that "match" a colour for your colouring, eyes etc?

Happy to go for a nicer brand, it'll be a treat to myself! I definitely want a person to do it rather than trying loads in boots!

I'm not great at make-up and wanted to get some different coloured lipsticks and wasnt sure what suited me. So I bought 3 packs of mixed colours from revolution beauty (one pack was free, they often do discounts). This allowed me to try out different colours and wear them for a few days so i could get used to the different colours.....some of them were quite bright.

I now know which ones suit me, so i can invest in more expensive brands if i want.

Clinique Black Honey supposedly is a universal colour that looks good on most. It's very sheer and moist.

I really love MAC Mehr these days. It is one of those nudes that will likely suit everyone.

I tried black honey and me, teen dd and even the assistant agreed it didn't suit me at all. So not for everyone.

I've also bought some of the revolution packs (and other cheap brands) to try and find my best colour and I am struggling tbh. Boots used to do a colour match service but that seems to have disappeared sadly.

I'm off to try MAC and Charlotte Tilbury tomorrow

Snap, I think I've narrowed it down to MAC and CT.

I love Clinique but Mocha Pop is my shade. I really think you just have to go to the counter and ask to test though.

@Hereforthedramaz CT was annoying. Went to one in JL and nobody on the counter and I didn't want to try without them doing the sanitizer thing.

Bobbi brown was good. I have my eye on Babe.

Ah that's annoying. I get irritated waiting around so I think I'll book to make sure I have a set time for CT.

I love the tinted Elizabeth Arden lip balms.

The purple one looks good on me.

I was once told to match my lipstick to the colour of my flushed nipples.

You need to find your 'my lips but better' shade. One that doesn't add a huge amount of colour but just adds some depth.
For me, it's MAC Modesty.

I went Bobbi Brown Babe in the end which I really like. It's a touch darker than I was expecting to like but my whole face looks a bit more alive which was what I needed.

I also got icon by Revolution for a fiver which I'd read was a dupe for pillow talk. I did manage to try a couple of CT but colours weren't right and I felt like I was wearing them iyswim.

Dd/dh initially preferred icon which is pretty nude on me but then I did my whole face and they preferred the Bobbi brown as the revolution was too matte. Then dd made me sling a bit of clear lip gloss over it and it looked way better.

Good luck for tomorrow - I got lipstick blind by the end of the day!
