Product to keep straggly hairs down

I often wear my hair tied up for work but I have a lot of random short straggly hairs that stick out, I hate how hard and stiff hairspray makes my hair so was wondering if anyone has similar issues and can recommend a different product as an alternative to hairspray? I see lots of people rocking a slick back hair do and wondering if there's a certain product that I haven't heard of.

Have you tried spraying hairspray onto your brush and smoothing it with that instead of spraying directly onto your hair? It works really well and less crunchiness.

No I haven't, will give that a go thanks. Hate the crunch but if I use a one with less hold it just doesn't stick the hairs down!

Some kind of argan oil might work well - you only need the tiniest amount.
