Last-minute sun holiday @ 2 stone overweight - any tips on what I can wear, bearing in mind I’ll probably have to find & buy tomorrow 😢

Control swimsuit from M & S

Overshirt & shorts Co -ord - wear the shirt over the swimsuit as a cover up or with the looser shorts as Summer loungewear with a body

Are your legs good? Knee length skimming dresses - H & M

Jacket for evenings - New Look

Floaty maxi dress - plain colour

Linen trousers, jogger style

Midi dress - River island

Sandals?

What shops have you access to ? It’s not the best time to be shopping for summer clothes. I know linen creases but a few long sleeve linen shirts can be very useful - cover ups, with lightweight trousers in the evening, with shorts during the day (roll up the sleeves). M&S might still have some. Wide leg trousers. Shorts - in a length that suits you, sometimes a few inches or more above the knee looks better than on the knee. Summer dresses.

If it's a beach holiday everywhere is pretty hot right now.

Any knee length dress, wide and loose. Oversize shirt to wear as beach cover up or as a dress. Tunic dresses.

Control swimwear can be a bloody nightmare to get on so just get a bog standard swimsuit that fits

There will be all shapes and sizes so do not worry about what you look like.

No one will care, just enjoy yourself

Try M&S, Primark, anywhere really. There won't be much summer stuff left so just grab what you can in your size.

I was in Mallorca last week and it was too hot for trousers or any type of jacket or cardi. I didn't wear half the clothes I took because I re wore my most comfortable dresses. It's going to be even hotter this week. You need less than you think. I took 3 swimming costumes but ended up wearing the same one everyday because I just preferred it. The other 2 were tummy control and annoyed me.

I had sarongs, skirts and a couple of t shirts, cotton and linen shirts. It's was too hot for the shirts but I did wear a really thin one as a beach cover up.

Asda and sainsburys have lots of pretty summer dresses. Buy a few, pop over some bikinis suitable for your bust size. Some nice sandals, relax and enjoy your trip

*do not do linen

If you have Amazon Prime they have some great swim skirts which I find much more comfortable and could be delivered tomorrow. Sainsbury’s and Tesco have loads of summer dresses.

Thanks everyone for all the great tips! Think I’ll be seeing what’s left in M&S, I may not get to any other shops.
I get what you say about the heat and not needing much, just want a few bits to feel cool & comfortable in, without looking too hideous.

You won't look hideous, you'll just look like someone who's on holiday and honestly, no one else will be worrying about what you look like other than you so go for comfort and keeping safe in the sun and cool. Agree with previous comment that you'll end up needing less items than you think you need to take as you'll like end up wearing the same things on rotation -if it is a European beach holiday, don't forget to get a wide brimmed hat, oversize sunnies, a big cotton scarf (use as a sarong, cover up shoulders from sunburn, use as an evening wrap especially if there are mozzies), and a pair of rubber flip flops you can paddle in etc. I'd go for a bright red/pink or coral nail varnish on toes and fingers. Take an elasticated silk/cotton headscarf to slip on if you've been swimming and then you are mooching about for a drink etc (good time then if you have access to outdoor shower to have rinsed the pool/seawater slap on a nice conditioning treatment which you can then rinse off for the evening so your hair feels fab rather than just drying in the sun).

Definitely yes to the comfortable swimsuit not tummy control

Rina66 · 12/08/2023 07:27

I actually size up in my tummy control swimsuits, I don't want to have to wriggle in to it, I just like the thicker more structured feel, so I suppose it doesn't make me look slimmer, just smoother! This one from Amazon is so comfortable and comes in lots of colours, I bought the white, another reason to size up!
