Signet rings?

Does anyone where a signet ring? What makes a good signet ring?

I had one for my 9th (I think) birthday. It was only 9ct. It started off on my middle finger. I can still wear it in my little finger. Although it's worn and very thin on the band. Tbh, I think it would have been quite cheap.

Thinking of maybe getting something for my daughter. She's 12.

I guess partly, it's that signet rings sit flat (no stones etc) means they are easy to wear without needing to take off?

Where?! Where?! I mean wear! Good god!

Looking for something a bit timeless I guess. Rather than Pandora or similar that might age faster

I bought a lovely simple one from Annie Haak

Do you have a family crest? If not I'd get her initials done, or something relevant in Latin that resonates with her, or a talisman, or an animal or plant. That would be a proper signet ring that she could wear with pride forever and pass on. If that sounds a bit ambitious, maybe something to think about for graduation/marriage/big milestone.

It used to be quite common to see young girls (and some boys) to wear signet rings. Usually on the middle finger at first, then as they grow, the ring can be moved to the third or pinky finger if it tightens. I think a signet ring, either silver or gold would look good on a child and being smooth wouldn't normally need to be removed.
