Summer Party! Help!

Ladies, I know these threads are done to death but I have had a look but can’t see much that suits.

We have our work summer bbq coming up. it’s a “party in the park” type theme. I work in wealth management in Mayfair, and although we have a casual vibe in the office people generally look nice / smart.

my usual look for work is trainers, wide leg trousers and shirts. Love a blazer. I’m 30, quite tall and a size 12.

not too fussed on budget, if it’s something I will wear again. (Within reason)

Any ideas?

You’re 30 years old, work in wealth management in Mayfair - and you’re asking a forum whose idea of extravagant dressing is Hobbs, what to wear to a party?

Grin

<Dies laughing>

But seriously, can you not just find your way to Mount St and buy something?

MarciaSaysANumber · 11/08/2023 17:25

More considered answer …

This, with a tiny silk slip dress.

But I’m sure other people might have suggestions …

So helpful!

but yes, I am asking for ideas because I’d prefer to order online as I have a lot on at the minute and won’t get the chance to walk around the shops. I also don’t love shopping.

Thanks, this is nice but feels a bit autumn / winter for me!

For similar event in similar sector most of the women had dressed up in cotton midi and maxi dresses. But I'm a provincial so the real Londoners will be along soon to tell you nobody dresses up in London.

Like Marcia I'm a bit puzzled why you're asking and you haven't given us much to go on- perhaps a trip to Liberty or Matches website and collect from their store?

NatashaDancing · 12/08/2023 14:56

Or Brown's in-store or online.

How about a jumpsuit from here if you like wide trousers and are tall royals look amazing

www.meandem.com/jumpsuits

Or I would look at
Rixo

The Fold ( too formal?)

Wyse London

Or you could hire something ?

MarciaSaysANumber · 12/08/2023 16:24

Hmm … Was going to suggest the black, bird sequinned mini, but that’s probably too dressy for a barbecue. This isn’t:

But obviously I have no idea whether you wear mini dresses, or not. (I do know that at 30 I wouldn’t have given a fig for the opinion of someone of the age I am now!)

This top:

These shorts:

Or one half with something else. Relaxed accessories.

Thanks all, was just looking for ideas and inspiration! Like I said I don’t really like shopping and just don’t have the time to walk around shops looking.

cant see why it would be strange to ask?
