Back in the day trainers were something venues always had on their black list. I'm guessing they feel less strongly about them now as they're so widely worn.
I'm going to a lunch on Saturday, at a fairly antiquated club type venue. Dress code is smart casual and I'll be on my feet a lot. My go to would be a good quality slightly floaty dress and trainers? Does that meet a smart casual dress code these days? I realise it's not the most stylish outfit but that's not a big concern for me 😆 just meeting the criteria to be allowed in!
