I'm a chubby 50-something going to a daytime, outdoor rave soon. What on earth do I wear?
Any advice appreciated!

TIA

Impossible to say without knowing your style! I go to lots of outdoor events and am still very much engaged in club culture etc, and basically anything goes.

Thanks, @Libraryloiterer ... that there's an 'anything goes' culture is pretty reassuring!

Anything, literally anything... woolly jumper that looks like someone’s granny knitted it, white boiler suit, just underwear, saw someone once in a scooby doo costume...

I'd start with trainers personally, hopefully you have ones you like that aren't brand new (may get ruined if wet/ muddy).

Then find a small rucksack / crossbody bag / large bum bag that you like.

That's practicalities sorted, you need to feel comfortable but GOOD in what's in between the trainers and bag! Dance music is all about feeling good and that often means bright colours and sequins but it should also mean non judgemental attitude so really go for something you love.

I love jumpsuits for this kind of thing but does kind of depend on the toilet situation.... Hate em in portaloos.

Yes @RavingStone , small backpack and trainers (or possibly DMs) are certainly on the list!

I love a jumpsuit, too, and have a couple of quite "groovy" ones, but with portaloos... maybe not.

Seems anything goes, but being older and larger I just didn't want to look too silly, old fashioned or try-hard!

A clubbing crowd, particularly an older one, is likely to be as accepting as they come so this is your chance to wear the thing you might normally be too self conscious to wear. Enjoy (and let us know what you decide)!
