Between 40 and 48

LaMarschallin · 08/08/2023 12:45

@Grannyknowsbest

My daughter is older than you but looks younger.. she's a single mum to three ASD teenage boys

Well done her.
I hope she's also nice enough to cringe at her mother putting a picture of her (nicely posed, lit, makeup on etc) on the internet to compare her with someone else who hasn't bothered with hair, makeup etc

And I agree with MiniTheMinx:

The glasses, hairstyle, dress and wallpaper make you look 65, without those signifiers of age you might look younger.

I'd love to know what the Joan Collins skin care routine is, though.
Apart from surgery as a PP said.

Thoughtful2355 · 08/08/2023 12:45

Sorry just seen the update.. of course people are always going to be kind, I do the same. Of course when I meet someone who looks 40 asks me how old I think they look I say 30s. I'm being nice, it's a white lie.

I based my answer on the jawline sag which is what I call it, and the aging skin. It's not terribly aged but it is aging skin. Also the eyes

NewNovember · 08/08/2023 12:47

@Grannyknowsbest you look 72 minimum not 65 your hair aging you massively though grow it and you will look much better. Also the dress is very aging maybe go shopping with your daughter.

Trulywonderfulworld · 08/08/2023 12:47

I’d say early 30s.
But you don’t look very happy in this pic OP.
I really wouldn’t worry what other people think about you.

SkipHopJumpSplatWallop · 08/08/2023 12:48

@Grannyknowsbest you look a bit like my Aunt who is a glamorous 78, so I think around the same age as her.

Trulywonderfulworld · 08/08/2023 12:49

I’ve just noticed a smiley pic and that you are 39.
You don’t look it.

LaMarschallin · 08/08/2023 12:50

Janieforever

WhateverMate , yes I think it’s the only explanation. The second poster has assumed everyone responding after she posted her photo is responding to her, when they are clearly responding to the op. Those who have responded to her directly have got it either right or older.

Just been catching up in a back to front way - that actually would make sense and explain some of Grannyknowsbest's replies.

MiniTheMinx · 08/08/2023 12:50

LaMarschallin I think I read somewhere once that Joan Collins used margarine on her face when she was a young struggling actress trying to get work.

Sausage1989 · 08/08/2023 12:51

Whoever said you look in your 20s or early 30s is lying. I am 34 and you look about 20yrs older than me but I would have guessed you are a 40yr old (ish) who looks a lot older.

I agree that a more modern hairstyle would be better. Looking younger than your age, if that's the aim, involves so much more than unlined skin.

Charlize43 · 08/08/2023 12:53

What is "the Joan Collins skin routine"???

Isn't it making braids with the hair around the face then pulling it all back, very tight and then plonking a wig on top to hide it all.

It's an old Hollywood actress trick from the 1950s. Other variations using tape called a tape lift but the wig needs to cover it.

MrsSlocombesCat · 08/08/2023 12:54

40

Sausage1989 · 08/08/2023 12:54

Your daughter does look a LOT younger than the OP, you're right about that. You look 65-70 but would believe you if you said you were older.

Bogofftosomewherehot · 08/08/2023 12:56

youknowitIknowit · 08/08/2023 12:56

Why are people sayings @Grannyknowsbest's daughter looks older than op?! She doesn't!

SlashBeef · 08/08/2023 12:56

@Grannyknowsbest you also literally look your age. There's no luck involved there. My mum is also 65. She doesn't drink a lot of water, she doesn't follow Joan Collins skincare routine Confused she looks her age too. Getting older and looking the age you are is fine. I'm not sure why you're trying to desperately convince us you've been so lucky and look so young.

LaMarschallin · 08/08/2023 12:57

Gosh!
Don't think I'll try that.
They'd have to rename it "I Can't Believe it's not Cuter!" if I did.

IClaudine · 08/08/2023 12:59

OP does not look in her 50s. Nowhere near.

Siouxiesiouxiesioux · 08/08/2023 13:03

35

IClaudine · 08/08/2023 13:03

It is very ageist really, this thread. Attaching some sort of moral failing to look younger than you are. I looked a fair younger than I am, but not now. Most people look their age after about 45, with a few exceptions. Neck and jawline are big giveaways.

If OP looks in her 50s, I must look as though I helped build the pyramids.

IClaudine · 08/08/2023 13:04

to look NOT younger than you are.

WhateverMate · 08/08/2023 13:04

@Grannyknowsbest how old is your daughter in that photo?

IClaudine · 08/08/2023 13:05

Try again: to NOT look younger than you are.

IVFNewbie · 08/08/2023 13:05
