Penhaligons experiences

How long does Penhaligons fragrance last on the skin?

I thought about treating myself to a Penhaligons perfume. They sprayed me in the shop and it smelled wonderful, but within 30-60 mins I felt like the smell dissipated (e.g. compared to my normal cheap - Vera Wang - perfume).

That being said, I only had my own sense of smell, plus (semi useless) dh and a (random) waitress to give an opinion, but we all thought the smell wasn't strong. Let alone for a £200 price tag. I believed them and didn't go back to purchase the perfume. However, I read rave reviews about Penhaligons perfume. Is it me? Did I try a bad batch? Or does it need frequent top ups?

Tell me all I need to know about Penhaligons!

Try buying through Topcasback. They often have 10% or so off prices.

Penhaligon's fragrances don't tend to last long but some of them smell wonderful.

They are massively variable in longevity and quality. Most are definitely not worth the money but a couple are gorgeous.

Their fragrances last forever on me but they're not my thing at all. There's something about the DNA of that fragrance house that just doesn't suit me, and I really wanted to like them. Such a shame.

Thank you all for your replies. Sounds like it might be the specific fragrance I tried, or maybe just my skin. Gives me an excuse to go back and try some more, I guess!

just as a warning, be careful buying directly from them. My friend bought me a gift voucher for my birthday.

She entered my correct email address, but they did a spelling error when they copied it out (who knew they did such a manual process) and sent the voucher to me.

They would not re-issue the voucher, even though they acknowledged it was their mistake in the end my friend had to put a chargeback via her credit card to be refunded.

I was completely shocked, and even though I love the fragrances, I won't buy now. For a luxury band, their customer services is awful.

They have great sales- often about 70% off plus a free gift which is often a full size bottle. The free gift ones sell quickly online if you dont like them

I have about 20 bottles and have never paid more than about £80

Sdaly they have massively reduced their floral ranges and so I havent bought one for ages.

Ooh when do they tend to do the big sales? I'd happily get a couple, if they were at the right price.

The longevity on my skin definitely varies by perfume - so I'd definitely try a few to see if you like them. Penhaligons have some outlet shops (I know there was one in York outlet village) where you can get some decent bargains.

I love halfeti and it lasts absolutely ages. Can still smell it on my skin the next day. If I get any on my clothes I can smell it until I wash the clothes! I guess it depends.

I wear Empressa and it lasts all day. I also use the body wash and I can smell that on my skin for ages afterwards. Gonna try Luna next I think!
