I used to get waxed every 6 weeks or so, but the cost of living increase has made it difficult. I've tried waxing at home with the Veet wax strips but it hurts, I'm left with lots of strays and I'm clearly doing something wrong so I'm not loving them. I hate shaving because I can't be bothered every 2 days. Any ideas? I can't afford laser hair removal or an epilator at the moment so I need something reasonable.

Is the Veet sensitive cream within your budget? Make sure you do the spot test first.

Otherwise if you won’t shave, it’s going to be difficult. If you do give shaving another go though, do it with hair conditioner.

I know laser hair removal is expensive. I used to do it using Groupon voucher, which were great deals but I don't know if anything similar is still available. Even if you could just get a couple of sessions it would then (perhaps) mean that your hair growth becomes manageable enough for shaving. E.g. I had 2-3 sessions on my legs and now I can do a quick dry shave once a week to get rid of the remaining hair. It does work differently on different people and also different areas of the body.

Sorry, I don't have anything better to suggest. Maybe bleaching?

I used to know someone who tweezed her legs while watching TV.

Otherwise one of those twirly spring things or hair removal mitt?
