Looking effortless

Hi - I always hear of the French style that many people aspire to as “effortless”.

what does that actually mean though? That everything just looks plain and simple and goes together? That there are no standout pieces - everything looks well cut (but maybe boring?)

just musing on this as I pack for a holiday in France. Would love to hear your thoughts!

I just wore navy trousers (sailor style I think they're called- with the buttons at each side and high waisted) and then plain or block colour well fitted tops. Of course like any country there are diverse trends, but I also love the effortless- looks great when its just been chucked on style.

I love effortless French style. Maybe it is plain or boring, but if you wear simple cuts and stick to white, navy, beige etc. it’s so much easier to look sharp imo.

Ooh thank you ! I’ll take a look at that later!

That you look amazing but also like you just threw items on and got lucky. In reality the look has taken many hours or possibly years to achieve and is in actual fact a carefully curated exact science by a person with lots of time, effort and at least some money.
These terms are clever marketing at the end of the day knowing most of us are trying to achieve something close 😊
