Are you meant to feel a thong between your bum cheeks?

Trying to be more sexy

Most of my friends are avid thong wearers. I wish I was; but I'm not.

When I try to wear one, it's like my bum cheeks are trying to swallow the piece of string. I'm constantly un-picking myself.

Surely women don't walk around feeling this uncomfortable?

What's going wrong for me?

I’ve worn only thongs since I was 12 apart from when I forgot to pack underwear for a holiday 2 years ago so had to buy knickers. Thongs are the most comfortable by far for me. I do have a big bum and quite wide hips though, not sure if it makes a difference

In the late 90s early 2000s everyone wore thongs.

First I hear of it. Did you mean to say they were available in stores for those so inclined? Shudder.

Hawkins009 · 05/08/2023 00:12

It's certainly a mix at times with them

CallieQ · 05/08/2023 00:57

Ewww gross

GoingToBeLessRubbishAtLife · 05/08/2023 01:06

Things are very comfortable if you get the sizing right. It’s not the time to buy the size you want to be, it’s the time to be horribly realistic about what size your arse actually is.

Plus, someone said they must smell horrendous - why? Unless people don’t clean their bums properly………

For me, the weirdest thing is the sensation of loose fabric on your bum cheeks. With normal pants the fabric stays there all day, but with thongs and a skirt there is that constant swish of fabric on bare cheeks.

Love a thong or g-string. Big pants for periods only.

I second hanky panky, lounge and weirdly I've fallen in love with primark thongs. They do these ribbed ones that come with a bralett for like 8 qyud or something ridiculous. They are super comfortable, sit well and wash surprisingly well and they come in some fantastic colours. I've been reliving the 90s with brights and neon colours.

Tahitiansummer · 05/08/2023 01:24

Love a thong or g-string.

Same here. Super comfortable and no bum wobble because I do lots of squats.

IHateLegDay · 05/08/2023 01:27

I used to live in thongs pre-kids. Now I live in granny pants.
I could always feel the thong but it was never uncomfortable. G-strings are thinner so I preferred them.

FFSCarrieBradshaw · 05/08/2023 01:52

Thongs are not the underwear of Serious People.

Serious People wear a microfiber full brief with a cotton gusset.

Thongs do not fulfil the need of underwear, which is to protects ones clothes whilst remaining unobtrusive.

No, we didn't! Some people may have, but I've always found them uncomfortable and so have most of my friends. Give me a big knicker any day!

It was very much the thing back then, it was the fashion, I always wore thongs with low rise jeans when I was young and lovely, every celeb in Heat magazine sported the look! this was the era of fake boobs, fake tans and visible thongs!

Just looked up Hanky Panky - that is too much money for so little material!

I actually saw someone wearing this on TV the other day. I think it was love island (don't judge me).

Yep, same. I don’t even feel them.

They’re the only thing that fits me. I’m thin with wide hips and a big butt, so anything with butt coverage just results in a wedgie. Remove the butt coverage and voila! Perfect. 😂

Somewhereovertherainbowweighapie · 05/08/2023 03:00

If you don’t find them comfortable maybe look into lacy underwear that is in the style you normally wear.

sykadelic · 05/08/2023 03:17

I think they're like bras. Some find them more comfortable than others, some dig in, some don't, some are pricey, big butts (boobs) struggle more.

Frankly since my breast reduction I wear wireless where before I'd never have done so. So much like a g-string, if I don't have to, why bother.

Oh, and those cute lacy bralets, are super cute, like the lazy boy short style undies. A softer sexy look imo.

carwashthecat · 05/08/2023 03:27

I too only wear thongs and have done for 20 plus years.. I am also large of back side- I only ever wear Next cotton thongs and again as many people have said .. size up

elp30 · 05/08/2023 03:32

I've spent my whole life trying to keep underwear from riding up my butt so I don't understand why I would deliberately put them there!?!

My aunt had four daughters that wore thongs in the 90's. She used to keep a long stick beside the washing machine on laundry day because there was no way she was going to touch them!

I'm sorry OP but sexiness is an attitude. If thongs are going to be uncomfortable to you, you won't feel sexy. I suggest you rock the granny pants!

Full disclosure, I have no tits, perky 90's arse, don't wear a bra, microfiber knickers with no elastic are best, you get no lines. I like sleek look. Thongs are arse-flossers surely?

Plus menopause gives one a very sensitive undercarriage, I like a brief brief.

EmmaDial · 05/08/2023 06:36

but when I wear them it feels like they are going to end up inside me they are that deep in the crack (did I actually just say that on the internet...🫣)

Yes you did but we won't tell.

Crzy · 05/08/2023 06:39

@ExitThroughTheGiftShop now you’ve got me intrigued, they do non popper bodysuits?? Where! This is a need I’ve never come across any and when I haven’t worn one for awhile the poppers drive me crazy like sitting on fucking smarties when they put them too far towards the ass section Grin

EmmaDial · 05/08/2023 06:39

Sloggi are the way to go. IMHO.

greenteaandmarshmallows · 05/08/2023 06:47

You might as well wear nothing if you're going to wear a thong. They are pointless and your bum will get cold.

StarlightLady · 05/08/2023 07:20

Size up; agree with others here. I would suggest go one size larger than regular knickers and go for microfibre or another similar fabric which has stretch. You should not know you are wearing them. But we are not all the same shape, which is why knickers are not all the same shape. M&S Brazilians may suit you better.

l agree with the comments up thread about “bodies” with poppers; l deflowered myself all over again and could hardly close my legs for a week 😂.

greenteaandmarshmallows · 05/08/2023 07:21

If you go one size up won't they just fall down?
