Ok or a bit cringey?

I've always liked equestrian style (even though I've never been within about 50 feet of a horse as I'm scared to death of them!) .. What do you think? Are any of these ok for daywear? or is it a bit cringy?

The beige ones will make you look like you're not wearing any trousers.

TrianglePlayer · 03/08/2023 16:48

I couldn’t wear them without feeling very self conscious. Firstly they’re obviously tight but secondly I can just imagine every smart ass (or even asking as a genuine question) “going riding”???

Oh god , didn't think of that lol

I dunno, the black look like faux leather leggings which is fine if that's your style, the grey ones look like hiking leggings which is ok too. The pink/flesh ones NO.

BeckyBlue · 03/08/2023 16:50

The black ones are fine, but the others, no- you would need to accessorise those with a pony IMO.

pictoosh · 03/08/2023 16:50

Changed my mind...the grey ones have some sort of spotted design on. How very 'activewear' - for people who don't do activity.

So the grey and beige ones are out?

The black ones are probably do-able. The other ones will make you look like a prat unless you're within about 300 metres of of a field/horse box/branch of Mole Valley Farmers.

greenteaandmarshmallows · 03/08/2023 16:52

Don't wear the beige ones if your skin tone is at all similar.

The others I don't like because of the weird line round the legs to bum bit

i think the black ones are waterproof , just thought the material might make them more interesting

I don't understand why you would want to wear these unless you were actually riding a horse. If you want tight leggings/jeggings etc, just buy some. Dressing up as if you're going riding when you're not just looks ridiculous.

It was just to make them a bit more interesting, same old leggings gets a bit boring . But I know what you mean.

@sarah, beige/'nude' leggings are quite popular where I am. The person wearing it might have a darker skin tone, but when paired with a hip length top or coat, from a distance it looks like naked legs and bum.

isthismylifenow · 03/08/2023 17:05

What about Freddy jeans?

They are this type of style.

Petrine · 03/08/2023 17:09

The beige jods are the sort that children wear to Pony Club/gymkhanas they have little turnups and probably elastic which goes under the foot to hold them down. Adults don't wear them generally. The grey breeches have a rubberised 'sticky seat' which is to grip the saddle. The black ones have similar on the inside of the leg - the purpose again is to aid grip on the saddle. Both are likely to have velcro to fasten at the ankle. Breeches are usually worn with long riding boots.

I think you would look very odd dressed in breeches or jodphurs if you don't ride. Just buy leggings.

VikingsandDragons · 03/08/2023 17:52

Blue ones look like activewear for the non active, beige are horrendous and been covered well above for their nakedness. The black ones look like kink wear thats office acceptable.

mangopassionfruitlatte · 03/08/2023 19:49

You can look sort of equestrian by wearing a white shirt, waist jacket and beige or denim trousers and knee length boots but it's still cringe. Dress for the life you lead not the one you wish you did.

The way those trousers are reinforced around the inner thighs and bottom look like kink wear or a diaper, babies have easy access like that for nappy changes.
It makes sense out of practicality and safety if you are riding but if you're not, why would you willingly look like you have a heavy diaper? Plus, it makes your thighs look bow legged and short. It's not a flattering look.

You could wear 'leather' (probably PU) leggings but that look screams BDSM and gets unwanted attention from pervs so I wouldn't. Agree on beige/nude clothes looking like you're naked from a distance.

I’ve got QED pleather leggings and I don’t get unwanted attention from pervs nor does it scream BDSM either.

Decided to go for the black ones, just ordered them. Should be ok in this cooler weather at the moment!
