I think I’ve found the definition of “well dressed” and “good MN haircut” - Eve Best on Maryland

I’m late to the party for this show, Maryland, but just binged it and wow, how put together does the older sister Roslyn (Eve Best) look.
In the first episode, she just screamed luxury - the silky top, Max Mara style camel coat (probably was Max Mara) which seemed so fluid when she moved, the tote bag.

And her hair - so coiffed but effortless looking - perfect layers to lift her face, perfect highlights and the right amount of waves. Skin also had a brilliant sheen (Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser?) and face looked natural but defined - good eyebrows. Nice pinky tint to lips but not obviously wearing lipstick.
Could she be the definition of the Mumsnet S&B holy grail? 😂

Will come back and report after I've watched it!

Have you got any pics

I can’t wear a camel coloured coat 😢 it make look like death warmed up.

Looked up Eve Best Maryland
Really not sure. The hair looks like it's properly curled and styled (not effortless at all IMO) and white trainers with a long camel coat?

I’m not keen on that look. The coat is too posh to wear with white trainers, and she looks like she’s going to a wedding from the neck up. Her hair style is what I would expect with a wedding outfit from Phase8.

Good God, no.
Drab, basic, bleurgh.

I didn't watch it, but googled it and I think I'd agree with OP - the look is definitely what I'd class as tastefully classic MN. Going by the wardrobe I'd judge that they're trying to portray her as a character who's wealthy, stylish, but making fairly safe choices - lots of neutrals and timeless pieces rather than trend-led or bold colours.

There was deliberate intent with the wardrobes in this to make clear the differences between the sisters. She had a very safe wardrobe which did say expensive but no logos etc. Wasn't crazy about the hair style though. Her wardrobe does change as show goes on.

Aww now I love a camel coat with trainers.
And given that my hair is crazy coils curly, to me this just looks like effortless waves.
She just looks really fresh and natural to me - like she smells of Eau Dynamisante / I’m more likely to smell like a lady of the night 😂

I think camel is a very "posh" colour but it doesn't suit me either, like pp said makes me look like death warmed up. Colours with even just a bit of yellow to them don't suit me at all. I love the shape of the coat though. I've got one very similar but in a medium-ish pink.

Beige coat, big brown bag, mid length cut, sensible footwear - that's my Ageing Teacher Aesthetic, according to DD.

JMAngel1 · 03/08/2023 16:50

Ageing Teacher Aesthetic 😂. Well at least your DD is calling it an aesthetic!

If in doubt about an outfit, ask a Generation X Fashion Graduate with AuHD. If she coats it off with 'Aesthetic' at the end, you at least know you have a defined and coherent look about you.
