Face to face interview outfit

What do people wear to face to face interviews these days? Last time I had one was 8 years ago and I wore a smart black knee length skirt with a black blazer (both from Next), white shirt underneath, and black heeled mary-jane type shoes. It just feels so dated now to wear a smart suit and heels. Interview is for a job within the NHS btw, as a practitioner. Hoping someone can suggest some ideas!

You could take one half of your suit - whichever still looks most up to date - and add a new top or trousers. But if both pieces have dated badly I’d forget them.

You could wear a reasonably smart, simply cut dress. Or a relaxed looking trouser suit in a flattering colour, with an ‘elevated t shirt’ type top inna neutral colour.

Loafers - fairly chunky would update your black separates or look good with anything new.

Where do you usually shop? And what size are you? (Would usually ask your budget but I don’t have the impression NHS practitioners wear particularly fancy clothes to work.)

(I did not write ‘inna’ …)

I interviewed for (and got) a nurse practitioner job a few months ago. I wore a pair of lucy and yak trousers (black and white, not bright) that are fairly tailored and a slim fitting plain black tee. I can't remember what I had on my feet but they were clean and tidy.
I think the days of suits are past, but still need to be smartish.

I rarely see women in the corporate world wearing a suit nowadays. It’s more separates, contrasting jackets.

Some great ideas here thank you!

I love the idea of separates with contrasting jackets- do you have any images you can share @Businessflake

@Tyrannosaurusdrip I have also considered a plain black tee, with smart trousers- maybe white trousers, and loafers.

@MarciaSaysANumber I usually shop at Mint Velvet, Oliver Bonas, John Lewis, h&m, to name a few. Recently invested in some Sezane pieces. Size 8-10, petite. Natural fibres where possible to help me stay cool/ sweat free 😆

I'm happy to spend a bit as I've recently lost weight and my existing trousers don't fit anymore.

Thanks @Pinkitydrinkity I love the styles but neither are my colour unfortunately. I will check out the websites for other colours as I've not brought from them before. I am more of a warm/ autumn colouring.
