Worried my natural colour looks like a bad dye job

This is my natural hair (needs a cut). Would you assume I’m growing out highlights? I don’t even know what you call this colour- light brown? Definitely brown roots but the ends are orangey blonde.

It looks fine to me - no issues!

Also looks fine to me. You're over-thinking.

Thanks, everyone. Was getting a bit worried- first time with my natural colour in 20 years!

It's lovely! People would pay (I have!) a lot of money for a natural balayage like that.

its lovely.

It just looks completely normal to me, though I do have exactly the same hair colour (have never dyed it).

All I'd say is that I also keep mine long and when it starts to look lighter at the ends and looks a lot warmer than the root colour it usually just means it needs a trim and a hair treatment. If I've not done that in a while I can hold my ends up to my roots and they are fairly significantly different colours. A blue toning conditioner (like the Aussie one for brunettes) will take some of the redness out and blend to the root colour a bit if that's what you want but it looks fine as is.

Also worth noting that the lighter part of your hair in that photo is in natural light and the rest not so in indoor lighting won't actually look like that. In photos where I'm in natural light I can see all sorts of tones and highlights in my hair and it looks a caramel/red/light brown - all sorts indoors in pictures or what I suppose everyone sees day to day it just looks a light warm brown really.
