What demi-permanent colour?

Advise from pro-hairdressers welcome!

I have been home colouring my hair for years but want to get away from box dyes. I am a beauty pro but work for myself so no one to ask for advise but I have a trade card so can get pro colours.

Due to children and their disabilities I barely have time or money to get my hair cut let alone coloured.

At the moment I am using casting crème gloss 316 plum. I'm trying to find a similar colour. So far the closest colour I like is diarichesse .20 purple milkshake but I think it will be too bright for me. I want it more muted purple.

I have looked at color touch 5/66 violet brown which is closest to what I have now.

What would you guys suggest? I want to be able to grow out the years if permanent colour under the semi/demi colours and change it up if/when I get bored of purple while covering the abundance of greys that are appearing at rapid speed.

Honestly no demi-permanent dyes will cover your grey hairs for long. It won't hold, sorry. I have tried it all and it looks good a week but by week 2 the grey will come out in full force. I honestly hope somebody else can come and prove me wrong! I'd love to find something else.

Thanks @UnicornStarfish what would be better then? I want to be able to change my colour without stripping it

I'm far from being an expert when it comes to hair dyes! I'm giving your post a little bump to see if people in the know will stop by.
I used the non-permanent ones which fade nicely (and cause less damage imho) but with grey hair popping up now they just don't make me happy for long anymore, I loved them before. I loves the Casting ones!
Now I look for permanent ones without ammonia so they're kinder on my hair but they don't fade as well as the grip's on hair is stronger. They don't fade with washes but I've used a non-permanent one (always the Casting ones) on top and my hair didn't get damaged (I wouldn't never do it with a permanent one with ammonia as a base).
Shampoos with colour, I like the John Frieda ones, are good but don't last long either but I've used them over all types dyes without damaging hair (not Henna though! never mix anything with henna or it might go very wrong).
I honestly haven't found the perfect solution. It's a bit easier for natural colours like shades of brown but if you want purple or plum...! It's even trickier.
L'Oreal has permanent ones without ammonia, so does Schwarzkopf, Clairol, Garnier. Boots has a bunch of different ones.
My advice on this is far far from perfect. Sorry. I've experimented but it's also gone so wrong! Take it all with a massive pinch of salt. For me the key is "no ammonia" written on the tin.
My grey hairs sort of arrived to the party less than a year ago and the only certainty I have is I hate them with a passion.

This is an old post but in case anyone wants an answer I posted it elsewhere but his is the low-down: Yes, demi-perm covers white.
My hair is blonde 8N and I now have about 75% white hair which shows at the roots. I now use Redken Shades EQ demi-permanent with their recommended Procession Solution. I did a lot of searches and questioned professionals but found it difficult to get the right formula to cover the white. Redken got back to me saying "For hair that is level 8 with 75% grey you would mix:
3/4 oz 9NB
3/4 oz 7NB
1/2 oz 8N
with: 2 oz Processing Solution (Gloss to gel only)

Five weeks later and my hair is just blended with no demarcation line!
Use a minimum 1oz NB with 1 oz Processing Solution - I cheated by using 8N but will use all NB next time.
Redken Shades EQ is professional but I get it on eBay or Amazon
