Packable waterproof jacket

Does anyone have a waterproof jacket that is very compact when packed but is also fairly stylish when worn?! I feel I may be looking for a unicorn. Thank you!

I've got a Rab very lightweight waterproof jacket. I'm not sure it's stylish but as waterproof jackets go I think it's smart!

Cheeesus · 30/07/2023 14:19

I’m looking too. I am pondering this one. It’s short though.

I love my Protected Species one. It's pricey but they sometimes do 40% off.

There are some that fold smaller but this one is actually enjoyable to wear too and I don't feel like I have to give up on style completely

Uniqlo does one - its "pocketable" range. About £40

SuperPug · 30/07/2023 14:34

I really like the look of the Rains jacket, in ink I think. Not sure how they come up, in terms of size.

Gwow · 30/07/2023 14:48

Thank you! I shall do some investigating.

I bought this one in a different colour when it was in a sale. Packs down reasonably small and looks OK. I was caught in very heavy rain, had to walk to a bus stop in a downpour and wait for a bus, and it kept me bone dry. So for me it's been a really good purchase.

Keykaty · 30/07/2023 15:29

Don't search for "packable" just look for a decent lightweight rainproof jacket in the length and colour you like.

Then do as I do, squash it down and shove it in a ziplock bag, (a proper zip top one not the joiny together seams) squeeze the air out, and off you go.

Obviously buy a jacket that you will not be overly "precious" about but will do the job you want!

I do like the look of the Joules one above though!

this

I have the predecessor to this model. Going strong after 4 years hard use.

Ariela · 30/07/2023 15:39

Mac in a Sac for price (tip: sign up and get £10 off). Does what it says, but I prefer a longer length and better pocket protection of a Berghaus (tip here is to sign up to Go Outdoors, buy when on offer)

That Joules one looks lovely @FictionalCharacter.
I have a Joules one too but it's more "fun and funky" than smart.
Polka dots.
It's waterproof and does the job fine.
Lighthouse clothing do them also as do Seasalt I think.

continentallentil · 30/07/2023 16:09

Regatta do women's pack it jackets that are very on sale at the moment. They are nice enough.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 30/07/2023 17:57

I have a regatta one. Plain, simple and functional
Around £25

newfloorplease · 30/07/2023 18:10

Are the Regatta ones not a bit short ?

I have the Joules polka dot one as well, it’s been great.

The Vivi Mari ones are spendy but ooze quality and hang really well

I've got a berghaus one, my then- teenage DD borrowed it quite a lot and then when she went to uni we got her one. That was 6 years ago and they're going strong, she uses hers a lot.

pastypirate · 30/07/2023 19:05

Joining the thread as I want to burn my pink joules Mac it's awful.
I want lightweight bum covering Mac that doesn't look like I'm prepping for a trek up a mountain.

Halo8 · 30/07/2023 19:13

I’ll add my Seasalt and Mac in a Sac ones to the bonfire. Both are functional but depressing. I’m always on the lookout for a decent replacement.

They are arnt they. I'm leaning toward the rubber style now at least they kind of have a shape!

Do they really pack down into that tiny little bag? Might have to indulge... 👀
